Parker and Safe are a pair of Jason Statham films where you see Jason Statham do his Jason Statham stuff.  Luckily for me, I like Jason Statham so both of the films were pleasant, if a little bland, time wasters.  Safe is probably the better of the two, as it's a little more action focused than Parker.

GI Joe Retaliation is boring and makes no sense.  I like the Rock.

Hansel and Gretel is kind of fun, but it's also really schlocky and has very few decent action set-pieces.  I can't recall seeing a brother/sister lead pair in an action movie before.

Dinocroc is terrible, but it does feature the man with one of the best names in showbiz: Costas Mandylor.  He's the best thing in it by a mile.

This could have been a review of a lot of pay per view events in the late 90s.

The Butler was pretty good, is it sexist that I'd categorize it as a 'Mum movie'? it's very much in the style of Mr Holland's Opus to me.

Does that mean I'm a mother, as I loved Mr Holland's Opus.  :)

Do I have to compliment him on his healthy glow now, or did I miss that window?

Is he the guy from that Tom Skerritt television vehicle, Picket Fences? In addition to having a fun name, Costas Mandylor was dreamy back in the day. I don't know what he looks like now.

Edit: Oh. Yeah, not really so dreamy any more.

Muppet Christmas Carol: Makes me cry every year.

Black Christmas: Feels very dated now but watched it with someone who'd never seen it before so got a bit of a fresh perspective.

You've NEVER seen "It's a Wonderful Life"? What are you, some kinda commie! or a Brit! What the Hell!?!?!

I'm kidding, of course. It is a wonderful movie by Frank Capra and I envy you watching it for the first time.  Enjoy!

I'm always shocked how cheezy the first half is and how modern/cynical the second half is.

Well, that was Frank Capra... he was a genius. And, you are right, of course...

What may be interesting to our European friends, is that around this time of year there were two movies that were played over and over again, "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street" it got to be that we, as Americans got sick of them...

But, that did NOT diminish the quality of the films, naturally. Now, on the cable channels, around xmas, we get "Saw" movies... oh lord take me now...
