I really liked Iron Man 3. I think that it's the best of it's own trilogy, and I think it was solid proof that Marvel heroes will still be interesting on their own.

I think the success of the Iron Man series is due more to a well cast Robert Downey Jr then it is anything inherent with the Marvel universe. I haven't seen the first one in quite awhile, but I did like the 3rd more than the 2nd.

Robert Downey Jr. is probably the largest part of it. But I would give Marvel a lot of credit for giving this character that the general public is less aware of the big budget treatment he needed. And Favreau for directing such a well made and FUN movie. I think the writing could have been tightened up a bit, but even that wasn't the major stupid we have come to expect with a lot of blockbusters.
I really liked the second one, not really sure why so many people dump on it so much. I get that it boils down to "more suits", but between the character of Rhodey given more to do, and the introduction of Justin Hammer more than made up for that. I REALLY wish they had had Hammer in Iron Man 3.

I wasn't trying to bag on Iron Man 2... and really I could very well be forgetting large chunks as they all seem to blend together over time... But I enjoyed Kingsley as a villain and remember being not quite as impressed with Rourke. I don't have any real knowledge of the backstories or anything... so one script or another could be a complete abomination in the eyes of comic fans and I wouldn't know any better.

I think all three of the movies work tho, as generally speaking they are fun... And Downey has that gift where his characters remain likable despite him playing them as cocky shits.

I don't remember people dumping on Iron Man 2, saying one is better than another isn't the same as saying the other one sucks.  All 3 are pretty good movies, that's a rare thing with movie franchises.

My only complaint with two is thay it felt like the second act was dragging and boring. Other than that, its still really strong.

Journey to the Center of the Earth (1989)
Perfect Rifftrax/iRiff fodder.  Also, for those of you who disliked Kathy Ireland's character voice, you'll be pleasantly surprised.  Despite being in the movie, her character has no lines in this one.  Some more thoughts:

And I suppose you read Playboy for the articles too. ;)

Oh... and MST3k: The Movie (on blu-ray; yeah!!!). I think I've watched it too many times to really love it like I once did. I still love many parts of it tho. Either more time or a big group of like-minded people is in order for me to enjoy it more. Even after saying that, I should mention there are still quite a few moments where I still snicker and guffaw.

Maybe he's doing a paper on the history of pubic hair grooming habits? Modern porn is like a Nair commercial....

Every time someone complains about pubic hair, I always tell them that men in the 70's were cool with it. I have absolutely no idea what changed.

I was doing laundry this evening, and thought, why not watch The Nightmare Before Christmas? It's October, right? It's on Netflix, right?

Long story short, I am now moving like Jack Skelington. I'm sweeping all over the damn place!
