What was the last movie you watched?

-Pretty in Pink. It's sort of been my life story lately. I've always liked this one but I appreciate it now more than ever.

-Some Kind of Wonderful. It's pretty much Pretty in Pink with the genders reversed. It was enjoyable enough but not as good as Pretty in Pink.

-E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. The movie that got me into movies looks stunning on Blu-Ray.

Prometheus

 Glad I got the 3D version, at least it made the effects look more cool.  And the effects were the only thing to like.

 Let's see, almost every character was unlikeable, most of the so called scientists were stupid wackos, and it wasn't scary at all because of the stupidity and lack of tension building.  So, even if you can come up with reasonable explanations for the crew being that way and how everything works it still fails since that doesn't make it a better movie.  One semi-likable character and some great effects still add up to crapola.

Moonrise Kingdom - Beautiful film. Might even be his best. I love the film it was shot on too. I already want to watch it again, and that is very rare for me.

Safety Not Guaranteed - Another beautiful film, though not what I expected going in. Very quiet and... well, not slow, but laid back? Felt kind of like a Duplas Bros movie (it did have Mark Duplas in it, and they produced it) but maybe a little more 'on point' than their films? (Which isn't a surprise, because I believe they improvise a lot in their films)

Anyway, both were great films.

On the other hand, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter sets a new bar for boring.

I'va ctually heard the Asylum mockbuster version Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies is pretty good.

Interesting, I found the opposite of the above to be true. Aside from "might be his best" part, it wasn't exactly a great film, but at least it wasn't Wes Anderson.

Actually Igenerally don;t tend to bother with films like Moonrise Kingdom or AL:VH unless they're at they dollar show, but I like Civil War period American history and I thought the latter was a fun burlesque, though the book is more fun because there's far more detail.

The Hideous Sun Demon.

Surprised to realize I'd never seen this one. It was a blast. One of the B movies that's fun even without riffing. Also had a surprising bit of sexiness for 1959.

My Moonrise Kingdom story is myself and a friend were at an art cinema (he's a big Wes Anderson fan & I find 90% of his films painfull) when the trailer for it came on, the moment Bruce Willis showed up the guy in front of us almost shouted in disgust "what is he doing in a Wes Anderson film?!" at which point we both broke into hysterics for a good 2-3 minutes as he huffily adjusted his beret.

Blood Sabbath

Another one of my 50 movies for $10 movies.  Starring a young Anthony Geary (Luke from General Hospital for those not in the know)  First few minutes went by, thought this would be a perfect riff movie.

Then here comes the nudity.  Tons of glorious shots of 70's boobs and bush.  So I doubt it will ever be riffed.

Anyway, he's attacked by all these naked witches and runs.  They chase him through the forest.  Then he meets and falls in love with a water nymph.  Some other stuff happens, but I'm not really sure what.  Still a bit confused

Snow White and the Huntsman

Meh.  Not as bad as Battleship, at least it had Charlize Theron.  She is beautiful and quite evil.

Well, due to a number of factors, both real and fake tits of the 70s did tend to be shaped differently.
