"If there's one thing I truly love, it's Jeff Lynn, and The Electric Light Orchestra.  'Cause you can't beat a bit of ELO.

The last three movies I watched were Super 8, Paul, and Role Models. All three of them had a song by ELO. Such a weird coincidence.

That's a nice little run of movies, there.

When "Mr. Blue Sky" came on at the Olympic closing ceremonies, I immediately thought of Role Models. It's officially become "the Role Models song" for me. Every time I hear it, I think of the montage scene, and it makes me smile a little. It really is one the happiest songs I've ever heard.

Mark Wahlberg is awesome.  Loved him since I saw him drop his drawers for Calvin Klein as a young girl.  I've stuck with him even through the bad times i.e. The Happening

Watched "The House Bunny" last night.

Cute movie, totally cheesy, but really enjoyed pre-fame Emma Stone and Kat Dennings in it.  And that lead singer from All American Rejects was in it too

Found "Sky High" at a yard sale for 2 bucks, still in wrapping.  I love yard sales.

Anyway...Kurt Russell!  Never seen the movie, never heard of it.  But Kurt Russell!  He's the man.

A son of the two most awesome superheroes in the world starts Sky High, a high school for teen superheroes, and children of superheroes.  Even though he has no powers, he fakes them.  Although the truth comes out and he is sent to sidekick classes.  He eventually comes into his powers and has to lead the fight against the super evil Royal Pain.

Fun little family movie, good cast, Dave Foley and Kevin McDonald.  And Bruce Campbell steals every scene he's in.  Which should be more in my opinion.

Whoa... I step away for a week or two and all kinds of great stuff gets plopped into this thread... stream of consciousness reply... Wet Hot American Summer was a mess, couldn't seem to decide if it was a straight camp comedy or an absurd farce... I recall Garafalo and Hyde-Pierce seemingly stuck in a different movie most of the time, as they were playing it somewhat straight while everybody else was off in wackyland... But there were enough laughs to where I didn't mind much... Major League is easily one of the best comedies of all time... although I will admit my possible bias having always been a big baseball fan... I wouldn't call myself a big Paul Rudd fan or anything... but I've never once thought "they should have cast somebody else" when watching his work... My sweet father in heaven was that last Superman movie a complete abortion... even the worst scenes of a coked out Richard Pryor in Superman 3 was better than that wreck.

EDIT: In retrospect, I do recall a scene in that Superman movie where Supertoddler chucks the piano into the bad guys... that was pretty cool... so that probably beats one or two Pryor coked out scenes... maybe.

Last movie I saw...

Ted

Everything you love and hate about Seth McFarland rolled into a feature film. After generally positive word of mouth from friends who aren't Family Guy slappies, I was a bit surprised with how many jokes fell flat and/or seemed forced... at times it was everything from Family Guy that annoys me... some lame cut away gags and the teddy bear occasionally just starts doing a stand-up routine ... with no real plot motivations for the jokes....  But there were still a good amount of laughs to be had... Marky Mark had a few moments, Kunis is easy on the eyes and Ribisi did a good creepy bad guy dude with limited screen time.

My "Notorious" blu ray happens to LOOP (which is great for when I want to sleep and let it play) so I've basically watched that 30+ times over the past couple days.  I can't get enough Hitch.

2997.

...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

American Reunion. It was enjoyable enough but felt forced.

BTW, Darth Geek's hanging out with us.

Last night, after Manos, we watched the BEST Street Fighter movie of all time:Future Cops. IF you can find a copy of it anywhere, I HIGHLY recommend it. It's way more true to the source than the others, aside from names, it being unlicensed and all.
