I don't get Julia Robert's appeal.  I think she makes everything worse.

The Footloose remake

Didn't go in expecting much, but I enjoyed it.  The kid that played Willard was good.

Still can't beat the original though

The Hunted.

Sure, the Burnside Skate Park's just down to the right of the Keller Auditorium Fountain.  ::)

Eh, could've been worse. They could've put an aircraft boneyard in the backyard of the Smithsonian or something.

Well, while I do enjoy that movie on a brain-dead action level, the fact it fucked up Portland's geography about 20 times in that one chase scene alone almost broke it for me.

The best part isn't even the skate park thing (which is hilarious because the skate park's on the complete other side of the Willamette River, and the Burnside Bridge is NOWHERE NEAR Keller Auditorium...), really.

No, the most ridiculous thing is after Benicio del Toro's character jumps into the Willamette (after fleeing through a lightrail train that magically appeared on the Broadway Bridge)  -  the waterfalls they end up at for the final confrontation? They're not only like an hour UPSTREAM from Portland, but they're also three sub-tributaries away from the actual Willamette. I could not stop laughing at that point. "Swims like a fish," indeed.

saw jeff, who lives at home this afternoon. it was a good movie. the only real complaint i have is with the camerawork. they seemed to be going for a pseudodocumentary, but it was just bloody annoying. also, the theatre was really unsure of what trailers to put in front of it. lol, let's put romantic comedies and g.i. joe!

Watched TinTin last night.

Didn't know anything about this movie, I thought it was about Rin Tin Tin, had never heard of the TinTin novels.   Wondered why the dog was a white terrier and not a German Shepherd, now it makes sense.   Also had no idea it was motion capture, thought it was animated.  Until I saw Andy Serkis was involved.  He's awesome.

Really liked it.  Speilberg's the man.

Also watched The Vampire's Assistant, its a few years old but it was just donated to my library.  I liked it.  But then again I like anything with John C Reilly.

That's exactly why I saw it too, the donation and because it featured Sassquatch. The books that film is based on are fairly crappy, I'd have watched a few more movies following that one though.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Snooze

I don't know if it was really boring, or if I was just really tired.

I don't know if it was really boring, or if I was just really tired.

It's pretty much all talking and generally requires a second viewing to figure out what's going on, so being tired would have an effect.

I do recommend that second watch, though, since I sorta found this one to be pretty brilliant when I went back to it.

I think I'll do that.  I have a hard time giving up on a movie because of my own limitations.

It is quite dull, the one thing you can say about le Carré is that no on, no one at all, captures the genuine and mind crushing tedium of the real world of espionage like him.
