Anything else I can expect to replace in the next 5-10 minutes?

Expect? Where's the fun in THAT?  :)

Alright, so I just built my first computer, so of course I've run into some problems. Everything appears to be working (fans are spinning, Blu Ray drive is working, etc) except I'm not getting any kind of video. When I turn it on the "No Signal" message on my tv will disappear briefly, then reappear. So it appears that it is attempting to output something, or at least has some power go through the HDMI cord, but I get nothing. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

You using onboard video (motherboard connection) or a video card?
Check to make sure your BIOS is selecting the right video source and that your monitor cable is connected to that source (course you'll need a working monitor to do this) 8)

I've actually got two HDMI cables plugged in, one from the video card and one from the motherboard. Not getting anything on either one

:o
I would remove the video card and try to boot it.. It should default to the onboard video during startup.
If that works, then enter the BIOS at the next startup and turn off your onboard video, shut the computer down again and install your video card and that 'should' work :-X

Maybe I should have mentioned this in the previous post, but I already tried that.

I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, but have a feeling it probably will

Or I could just remove one of the memory sticks and everything will work fine...

Edit: except the hard drive was apparently DOA

Having bad or an odd number of memory could have caused the failure to post. Shame about the drive. Go pick up a solid state drive ;)

I just had the two, from one pack. I switched them out and they both work, so they aren't bad (yet). Is there any way to get it to work with both?

On my old computer, if I had my iPod plugged into a USB, it would not finish the boot sequence.

On MY old computer, the one I hated with a passion, it wouldn't start with my mini USB monitor plugged in. My laptop won't boot if my phone's plugged in.

How many slots do you have?  2 slots or 4?  If you have 4 slots you have to put the ram not next to each other if you are using 2 sticks.  It will tell you which slots to use in the mother board manual.

If you are using the correct slots then I guess it could be an incompatibility between the two sticks, which really shouldn't happen if they are from the same pack.  Or it could be a bad memory slot on your mother board.  Or an incompatibility between the mother board and your memory that it's able to work around with just 1 stick (that one's a wild guess) Or something I don't know about.  I can't claim to be an expert.  Just built a couple computers and those are things I remember reading about.
