I also like pomegranates, they really add a nice counterpoint to the heat in a vindaloo.

Plus they're a symbol of resurrection in Rreraphaelite art.

I heard somone suggest that, judging from the supposed placment of Eden, Pomegranites would have been the most likely "Forbidden Fruit." And of course Persephone, according to Greek Myth, was forced to spend the winter in the Underworld when she ate some pomegranite while kidnapped. (Her mom, the Harvest Godess, spends that time in a deep funk, which is why we HAVE winter.)
