Anyone seen It Came From Hollywood?
« on: October 08, 2006, 04:45:52 PM »
It was pre-MST3K, but very similar. It was actually more similar to Rifftrax (commentary with no silhouettes). I remember it being really funny, but since I can't find it anywhere, I'm not sure how well it's held up.

Synopsis from IMDB:

"Dan Ackroyd, John Candy, Gilda Radner and Cheech and Chong present this compilation of classic bad films from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Special features on gorilla pictures, anti-marijuana films and a special tribute to the worst film maker of all-time, Ed Wood"

Plot Outline: Popular comedians watch and give comments about the worst and silliest films from Hollywood.

I saw in a couple of times on cable...... should have been funnier but they REALLY strained to make any sort of joke.   The writing was pretty poor.

I saw that in the theater a long time ago.  I think that was the first time I saw any of Robot Monster and his amazing bubble machine.

Is it better than Woody Allen's What's Up, Tiger Lily?

no, it was really weak.  The writing was very "meh" considering the comedians involved.

I've wanted to see this for a long time.

This was supposed to be released on DVD some time ago, but Paramount cancelled the release over clearance issues.
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

I love that movie!

I had fond memories of watching it on HBo growing up, and recently got one off of ebay. It is a VHS, but the seller had even saved me a step and had coverted it to DVD.

It is cheesy, and it is NOT as funny as MST3K or Rifftrax. But it does have some good moments and also a very nice tribute to Ed Wood, many years before the Burton film.

If you like MST3K and/or cheesy movies, you owe it to yourself to see this!

It's official!

ScottH hates everything...  I chaulk it up to him being forced to watch endless reruns of Dad's Army and Eastenders.

There's enough new episodes of Eastenders that no one in their right mind would want to watch the old crap, rather than the new crap.  Dad's Army was alright though.

Does anybody remember the one-shot on NBC, hosted by Elvira where they riffed on 4 movies in one hour, The Wasp Woman being the only one I remember.  I think it was meant as a pilot, Frank Coniff was involved with it and the kids watching the movies with Elvira were from "Saved by the Bell."  Do I have any of this right, or is my memory letting me down?? Actually, I should probably check her imdb page.

It was called Attack of the B Movies and boasted TV's Frank as a writer.
I believe that this is already a part of the DAP or soon might be.

Its not currently part of the DAP... there had been talk, but no one really seemed interested.

There are certain MST3K DVD sites that have it though.
