My favorite group is Garbage and they're accused of being pop even though they're alternative....

I like Garbage too, and not for the reason most young men do. (Is it just me, or is Shirley Manson like a 7 or 8 out of 10 on the skank-o-meter?) I wouldn't not call Garbage pop, but then most music genre definitons are outside of my grasp. Can anybody really define "alternative" without listing bands as examples?

I love Garbage but yeah Shirley has the sort of skin you'd generally only see on a fine mature Stilton. Nice voice though and musically excellent.

I have this "chill out" CD that came free with, hmm I think it was Q or Uncut, and amongst all the nice floaty music is a remix of I am Milk. Now I'll agree it's chilled but in an entirely different way, i.e. the temperature of my blood lowers markedly when I hear it.

It's like the song of an evil primordial Goddess.

Haha AHH!  Heavy.com features a web animation team that does "Behind the Music that Sucks" and so far they are ALL hilarious - but the Shirley Manson one - the spotlight on Garbage is one of the best.  Please, please look it up on their newly convoluded, highly difficult to navigate new site:
www.Heavy.com

I haven't heard many songs, but I looove Cherry Lips by Garbage.

Yep, though you can't really see the lines on the outside of a Stilton. The woman keeps the foundation industry in business single handedly.

Wow, that's a little harsh, isn't it?

When she's not dressed for the stage she cleans up real nice.   :)

No but she does have quite the most grotty skin I've ever see and I have see her up close (had a friend in the music biz, I met Shirley briefly at a meet and greet).

Garbage... bleah.  Butch Vig takes Curve's sound, sucks all the life and originality out of it, applies a radio-friendly sheen, and sells millions of copies.

I like the singles just as much as everybody else does, but Curve did it first, and better.  And Toni Halliday could kick Shirley Manson's grotty ass any day of the week.

(Everything I know about British slang I learned from A Hard Day's Night.)
