I remember going to the States when I was younger (I'm from Alberta). In Canada we call "sweet tea" "iced tea". I learned the hard way as a kid that ordering iced tea in the States is just going to get you cold tea. I put sooo many sugar packets in it. Also, my brother and I were shocked that Burger King didn't have poutine.

I REALLY dislike the fact that my brain will randomly decide that something I really want to do, or should do isn't worth my attention, and if I try to force it, it will shut me down and force me into a depressed state. STOP IT, DAMMIT! I have things to DO!

That happens to me a lot.  It can be tough to get past that mental inertia.  I always find that once I do, I can get a ton of momentum going.

Dang it. Now I want to drive to an Irving Station & get some poutine.     (Always make at least one stop for it on the way from Boston to Nova Scotia.)

You're Canadian?  You looked so normal!  Damn you Canadians, indistinguishable from Americans and so freely moving among us.  Menace from the north!

It's unfortunate, because now there's just no way around me reading all of her posts in a Canadian accent, there.

Had lunch with a (white) female friend who is married to a black guy. They make a great nerdy couple and are a lot of fun. She said she had to move away because she was tired of people in local stores asking if the "black man" was stalking her. That's her husband. And he looks like a bug smiley teddybear.

I mean....are you fucking kidding me?

I don't know what that has to do with the previous comment, but k.

I grew up in a small town in Kansas. There was literally a pie chart on the town website for racial diversity that said 98% White, 2% Other. I can understand where you're coming from, Desmond.

In other news, headaches and depressions abound on the home front, preventing me from doing the multitude of things that I should be doing, further depressing me. VICIOUS CYCLES.

Shut up you hoser. I talk normal, eh?

I actually don't have an accent. Well, by that I mean that I don't have a stereotypical accent of any type. You'd hear me speak and probably wouldn't be able to guess where I was from. The stereotypical Canadian accents tend to come more from places like Ontario or the maritimes. I do say "eh", though.

I CONSANTLY get asked if I am Canadian because of my 'accent.'

Born and raised right here in Western Australia.
FINE

It never fails. I know 4-5 Canadians and ALL of them say 'eh' all the time.

You know, my VPAP machine has a wireless modem on it so they can monitor my sleep.

I have to leave my house just so my sleep specialist can charge me co-pay and say:

"Yes, you've been sleeping. See you next month. Pay the receptionist."
