JJ Abrams (Felicity, Lost, Alias) has started putting together the cast for his new Fox series "Fringe." Kirk Acevedo (Invincible) and Tomas Arana (Gladiator) have been cast in key roles on the show, which marks Abrams' first big series under his deal with Warner Bros TV.

"Fringe" revolves around a female FBI agent who ends up paired with a troubled scientist and his estranged son in a hunt for paranormal phenomena. Lensing on the pilot, which was written before the WGA strike, is set to begin next month in Toronto.

Abrams is exec producing with frequent Bad Robot collaborators Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Burk and Alex Graves. Graves is directing.

John Noble (Denethor in "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King") has been tapped as one of the three leads in "Fringe," Fox's high-profile sci-fi drama from JJ Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. "The Wire" co-star Lance Reddick also has been cast in the project.

The two-hour pilot, being directed by Alex Graves ("The West Wing"), centers on a young female FBI agent who is forced to confront the spread of unexplained phenomena and work with Dr. Walter Bishop (Noble), an institutionalized scientist whose work might be at the center of the coming storm.

Reddick will play Phillip Broyles, a special agent for Homeland Security who heads the special Fringe division, established to investigate a series of terrorist/paranormal events.

When it gets "leaked" I'll have to check it out.  Despite Losts faults, I still enjoy as an episode to episode kinda thing, and I need a new series that looks at the paranormal since i quit watching Supernatural.

Sounds like it could be interesting. I'm intrigued by the idea of John Noble playing an insane doctor. He's quite good. I'll be sure to check it out when it shows up.

Australian actress Anna Torv has been tapped as the lead in "Fringe," Fox's high-profile sci-fi drama from JJ Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Veteran TV and stage actress Blair Brown and Jasika Nicole also have joined the cast.

The two-hour pilot, being directed by Alex Graves, centers on Olivia Warren (Torv), a young, tough FBI agent who is forced to confront the spread of unexplained phenomena and work with Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble), an institutionalized scientist whose work might be at the center of a coming storm.

On the Warner Bros TV/Bad Robot drama, Brown will play the brilliant Nina Cord, a 16-year veteran at Prometheus Corp., a cutting-edge research facility. Nicole will play the recurring role of Astrid, a stunning federal assistant.

I was hoping by "fringe" you meant the kind of shows it seems I am the only one who has ever seen. You know, things that are actually the least bit original and entertaining.

"Dawson's Creek" star Joshua Jackson is returning to television as the male lead in "Fringe," Fox's high-profile sci-fi drama from JJ Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.

The two-hour $10 million pilot, directed by Alex Graves, centers on FBI agent Olivia Warren (Anna Torv) who teams with Peter Bishop (Jackson) and his estranged father, institutionalized scientist Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble), to confront the spread of unexplained phenomena.

Jackson was the producers' early choice for the role of Peter Bishop, a high-school dropout with an IQ of 190, and a misfit who is scrambling to erase a gambling debt.

Filming on the Warner Bros. TV/Bad Robot-produced "Fringe" is under way in Toronto. The pilot's cast also includes Blair Brown, Lance Reddick, Kirk Acevedo and Jasika Nicole.
