Gungrave, It's about 25 episodes that follows the story arch of a mafia family... all the good stuff: friendship, betrayal, redemption, etcetera

The anime I enjoy is a very short list

Speed Racer (original English dubs)
Ninja Scroll
Trigun
Samurai X (Rouroni Kenshin)
Vampire Hunter D

I like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun (Like any sane individual) but I'm really all about the Gag Anime. :^)

Excel Saga (My fav)
[yt=425,350]gQv-CsAX7Gc[/yt]

Sgt. Frog (Basically an anime version of ALF. Maybe I'm too old to enjoy it, but durnit, I can't stop picking up the manga! :^))

Movies:
Ghost in the Shell
Akira
Perfect Blue
Memories of Yesterday (I think that's the name, I saw this only once, years ago)

TV:
Monster
Slayers (the first season was weird/funny, then it sucked)
Darker Than Black (this one is new, and weird, and kind of confusing because not much has been explained yet, but it's interesting so far)

Besides Ghost in the Shell, I like whatever anime ends up killing all the other anime, then killing itself.

What do you mean you don't think I like anime? What EVER gave you that idea?

I like Monster a lot.  It's an absolutely enthralling series.  I always had a hard time waiting for the next episode.  How come that doesn't get licensed and put on Adult Swim rather than the Shounen series with just a little too much violence to be let on around dinner time.

I also love Death Note, Sexy Commando Masaru (sort of like Bobobo but tolerable and no ongoing story), Yakitate!! Japan, Hikaru no Go, Samurai Champloo and Gantz.

I love the One Piece manga but I'm not so fond of the anime.  Just doesn't look as fluid and dynamic too me as the manga does.

I thought the first few episodes of Hana Yori Dango were really addictive.  And now Adult Swim is going to show AstroBoy! Woo!

Oh oh! I am! I am!!  But yeah, I'd wax poetic about it more on another thread. Along with Pokemon. Which I hate with every fiber of my being.

I don't tend to like Anime at all. I like exactly two anime shows: Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. I like exactly two movie franchises: Vampire Hunter D and Akira.

After all that, the rest is crap (in my opinion).

Try Ninja Scroll - very good anime movie

And Animatrix is fantastic.

But yes, I agree with you that most of anime out there isn't worthy of frisbee or toilet-paper status
