I think you're probably right, gb.  Here's the original version:

There's also a 1981 cover by the British rock revival band Showaddywaddy on their Good Times album.  Click on the little speaker by the track name to hear whether that's the version you're looking for.

Hey thanks!  That's definitely the song, and now that I have the song name and original artist, I can track down the right version.

This might not be hard to find, but I need to throw this out to the masses.

There's a song that has always intrigued me and I want to know what it is and who done it. Here's the problem: I've only been able to hear it faintly playing on overhead intercom systems in supermarkets, restaurants, and other public places where I have no hope of making out the lyrics. I'm guessing it must be fairly mainstream, as such, but don't know where to begin looking.

Here's what I know: The opening of the song has this nice sort of plinky melody to it that sounds like it came out of a gameboy. There's a female vocalist. I can't make out a word she says, but she seems to have a high voice.

The plinky melody intrigues me, and the song sounds nice and mellow, and I want to really HEAR it some time so I can know if the song is really stupid, or if there might be an artist out there I'd be willing to listen to. Any ideas?

Man, that is vague.   :)   Could it be Joni Mitchell? Or perhap Joan Baez? I don't think they ever had Gameboy samples in their music, though...

I'm looking for a decent compilation of Patti Page songs.  Free, obviously, though ifi it's good enough, I promise to buy it  ;D

Female vocalist? Not grandaddy... Unless you just commonly mistake sad indie kids for women.

Nope. Not am180, and none of the Joni MItchell or Joan Baez songs floating around Youtube seem to match up. I know I don't have much to go on. :^)

I'm having a bit of trouble for this, so I'm sorry for the lack of details. A long time ago, I remember hearing a song off a Black Sabbath tribute thingie, and the only instrument that was used was a Grand Piano (if I remember correctly, I was hearing "Paranoid"). Anyone able to shed some light on this?

Holy crap....

The first song that came to mind was "Ring My Bell" by Anita Ward.

But from that description it could be several hundred other songs as well....

Sorry,

Did you want the name of the actual Black Sabbath song?... Changes.

No, it wasn't that song. It was Sabbath songs, but just being played by a Piano. It wasn't songs that actually had a piano. And looking back, I'm sure it also had "Black Sabbath" on it as well.

Would it be "Fluff" by Black Sabbath?
