We met him once at a show and he was the nicest guy.

I'm wondering if Eddie's death had anything to do with his depression. They were very close in real life.

Is there any news on why he missed Vengance on Sunday night...besides the "personal reasons"...

They just said that. According to the police, he killed his wife and son on Friday, and then himself on Monday.

This sucks....I still cant believe it....I m glad that I got to see him at a live Raw show....in one of his best matches...he took on Triple H in an 1 hour long Iron Man Match for the Championship....it was one of the greatest matches I have ever seen in my life and I have been around the wrestling block...his talent will be missed :'(

The story on Sunday night was he called and said he couldn't come because his wife and son were spitting up blood and he had to attend to thier illness. Looking back, that's kinda of a creepy thing considering they were already dead.

Oh man... I just can't even find the words.

Chris Benoit was one of my favorite wrestlers of all time growing up. I met him at a live event once, and he really seemed like a genuine, honest, and nice guy. I can only guess that there must have been a lot of depression behind the scenes.

What a tragedy for his family, and his wife's family.

I haven't watched wrestling in years, but I found this as pretty shocking. I never though he had it in him to do something this insane.

Benoit's wife, Nancy, managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, "Woman." They met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing storyline.[/quoted] WTF?

Nancy was married to Kevin Sullivan at the time she was a manger in WCW. Kevin Sullivan was acting as booker and wrestler at the time and put the 2 together. So yeah, pretty ironically, Benoit stole his his wife

Even during the tribute show, you could pretty much tell that Benoit had done something horrible.  Every other time a member of their roster has passed on, the tribute leans more towards the wrestler's personal lives instead of just focusing on their careers.  Everything that was said focused only on his career achievements and on stories about his wife and son.  I realize that they needed to fill the show but you could see how conflicted everyone was on paying tribute to someone who had killed 2 people.  The whole thing is just bizarre on so many levels.  I wasn't a Benoit fan by any means but I did have the opportunity to speak to him briefly at a show a few years ago and he seemed like a very likable person.  Guess it goes to show, you never know who you're speaking too.  I don't believe in a heaven or hell or any form of afterlife but I do feel sorry for his remaining family.

Yeah - it's pretty hard to have gushy feelings about someone who murdered his wife and kid and then took his own life. I guess the tribute show underlined the sorrow people felt about /how/ it all went down and the fact that it actually /did/ go down that way...

well, all the segments were probably recorded before more information was released. All the wrestlers pretty much said good things about Chris and said he loved his family and stuff. At the time all this was done the only information available was that he, his wife, and son were found dead in the home. It wasn't until today that it was released that police suspect murder-suicide.

I dunno...some the wrestlers stated that they were "confused" by the whole situation and i read somewhere that the WWE had most of the details but where told not to say anything until there was official conformation, I'm sure that they all knew what had happened but wanted to focus more on paying tribute to Benoit

Yeah, I've been following the story since I read about it on the OO Forums last night.  While Benoit was never one of my favourite wrestlers, I did appreciate his style and the respect he had for the business, and it's saddening and shocking that this kind of thing has happened.  I hope the WWE can recover from this over the coming months.
