Tonight I went to the Experience Hendrix tour at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando.  This is the all-star tribute to Jimi Hendrix featuring such artists as Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Robert Randolph, Eric Johnson, Bootsy Collins, Dweezil Zappa and more.

Fantastic show.  Kenny Wayne Shepherd, in particular, absolutely killed it tonight.  Any fan of Hendrix or of great rock guitar needs to catch this tour. 3 hours plus of Hendrix classics,

Last year my friend took me to see Adam Lambert.

Didn't see him on Idol, but she's obsessed with him, and she paid for the ticket.  Adam's also a big fan of David Bowie (as am I), so I figured why not?  It was a fun concert.  Nice seeing all the gay couples being free in expressing themselves.

He's a good singer.  He did an excellent version of Fame by Bowie and 20th Century Boy by T Rex.  Would see him again if he comes back to Roanoke.
don't you try to tell me my tires aren't filled with water

Tonight it is GWAR for the 20th time. Always a fun show but I am really looking forward to the opening act GHOUL.

Well that was pretty sweet. Here is the view from the pit! I got a new waterproof camera recently and I wanted to try it out tonight.
Maybe NSFW as they are killing a naked Snookie.

I read somewhere that he's going to be the new lead singer for Queen.

I'm going to see The Albion Band on Monday, which marks another step in my quest to see every hippy-folk band from the 60s and 70s.  I only really have Fairport Convention (end of the month) and Pentangle to see.

Just got back from a concert where Malian and Algerian electric funk/pop/blues was played.  The band are Tinariwen and they were kinda amazing:

Fairport Convention (end of the month)

Sadly you can't see them with anything like the original line up. RIP Sandy.  :'(

What were Steeleye Span like?

They were good! Far less electronic live than on their albums, but nothing had been lost in the intervening years.

I also went to see Martin Stephenson and the Daintees recently.  Tripe, you're a little older than me - do you remember them?

Didn't know the name looked up some songs, vaguely familiar, not really loving it though.

Same here, but they were actually much better live than anything I found on Youtube about them.  The best thing about the entire gig? The support act's name was Helen McCookerybook.

Add another hippy band to the pile: Jethro Tull.  They were pretty good - Ian Anderson's voice isn't really to my taste, but the band are magnificent.  They put on a good show too, with some inventive use of screen projection.

Couldn't get to Denver, so I'm watching the Five Iron Frenzy reunion show stream online... Not quite the same.

Why would you do that to yourself?
