They're weird looking things.
Yes they sound it (and unlike any mole I'd expect to see anywhere in the US).

Yes moles are only pest for people who want to maintain the worst resource hog any householder can have, a lawn, otherwise they're good to have.

Oh and they might eat roots occasionally but it's not really a big part of their diet.

Very cool, would like to see those pics. :)

I've never seen a mole in person.  Now, around my place I have tons of skunks and groundhogs.  And the skunks love to grub.

But I'm like Imrahil, really don't give a crap what my lawn looks like.  It's just grass.

Used to dig up moles once and a while when I was a kid, there were always a few making tunnels in the yard.  If you push down the tunnels sometimes you'll see one being remade, and know exactly where the mole is.

They were not welcome in the corner of the yard where my parent's garden was, so any tunnels that went into the garden got those nasty looking spring loaded traps on them.  Of course with the rocky New England soil half the time the traps would get stopped before killing the moles.

Or are they more like this?

Mika's bad eye got better.  Then worse, then his right eye started running and he was so lethargic, not being his usual self.  Hiding under the bed.  So back to the vet.

He had a pretty high fever, vet says it is an upper resp. infection.  He's been on antibiotics for two days and is showing some improvement.  Got on me last night, and was walking around the house some.  He also enjoyed some salmon and peas for supper.  That cat loves peas.

I love him so much...why do we have to become so attached to our pets?  It always just ends in pain.  I know this, but can't help myself.

Nothin' wrong with getting attached. If you didn't, it wouldn't be a pet - it'd just be livestock, or worse, decoration. Pets are family... just family that doesn't stick around as long.

I would give up years of my life, gladly and eagerly, if I could give them to Baby (my cat).

Who is the lucky species, though? They get 15-20 years of innocence and play, while we get 60-70 overshadowed by the knowledge of our own mortality.

I know man, I just like, blew your mind, right?

It's Caturday. Tons of friends on facebook posting pictures of their cats.  Now I miss those fat loads I use to have as pets.  :-\
