Well you wouldn't be contributing to the thread if you refuse to buy the movie so I don't see how that'd work Minnesota, the "OMG what if a stranger thinks I like this movie..... which would somehow make me gay for reasons that aren't readily apparent" responses of Reductio and the guy who started this thread seem to indicate they think having someone think you're a homosexual would be bad.

choice huh?

Seems an odd mix of extreme lack of confidence and homophobia.

Pfft, I can't be homophobic and work retail.  There as only been one time I was utterly revolted and that was because the guy looked like an even more grotesque Michael Jackson.  I just do my job, and if I feel I'm going to crack up because of their behaviorisms I keep to myself politely and wait for them to pass out of sight.  The humor comes more from the stereotype than the actual person to clarify.

EDIT:  If I became a law maker for a country, I'd have a law that says that all 18 year olds either have to go into the military for a year, or work retail for two years.  That'll fix a lot of problems in the manner of courtesy and at least tolerance.

My main point wasn't about your post but the general "I'm not buying that" feeling of the thread before my first post.

I find a lot of people who USED to work in retail are the biggest assholes of all because they figure it's their turn.

Two years of retail? Truly such horrors are not meant for every man. And lemme tell you from my own experience...it really won't. If people are rude, they'll be rude. It's just how it goes.

good points Scotth.
"Red_ad..."  came off as 'serious' about being embarrassed whereas most of us are trying to be light hearted and teeter around the grey area of embarrassment (ie; have fun with it).

No one really knows, Minnesota. Personally, I could understand being a little embarrassed going to buy this movie. It's an obvious fluffy, teeny movie. Most guys wouldn't want to be seen bringing a date to a movie like this, I bet. My main complaint is that this is a movie I would never watch sans rifftrax, unlike a majority of the other films, so there really is no reason to buy it.

If you are 'seriously' embarassed about buying any movie that Rifftrax ever picks... then maybe you should just sit that one out. Heck, for $1 (plus shipping and handling and DVD costs) I'll go to Target and buy it for ya myself. It's a freakin movie... save the getting embarassed part for when you have to pick up your prescription oinments...

And I swear I was almost too embarassed to go to the checkout. I was thrilled that it was only $7 but how do you explain it if you get up there and the nerdy kid working the register says "Dude this movie totally sucks you must be like gay or something,"?

That's when you put your tongue directly down his throat. His reaction will be especially priceless if you are, in fact, not gay; you can then tell him, "I'm not even a homosexual. I just wanted to see that look on your face." Then, take your purchase, and simply walk away.

If some nerdy register kid at the video store called me gay I would take it as a compliment......

seriously wtf? do you care what the nerdy kid thinks?

I could care less what people think of my taste in movies, clothes, etc. If I want an opinion i would ask.

;D now I'm just picturing Nunyerbiz buying 30 copies of Glitter at Target, lol.
... good points all, their are FAR more embarrassing things in this world than buying a movie...
like the look the receptionist gives you when you're getting tested for STD's (you know she's just sitting there judging your promiscuity) ... err umm not that I would know that 'look' or anything... (WAY to much information ;) lol)

Ordered my Glitter off Amazon for a total of six bucks, but I would suggest to the renters that they pick up something real butch at the same time, or just say (loudly enough for all to hear) "Man, I wish this place carried porn."   If the place does carry porn, rent something with Mary Carey.

This is probably the same logic that led to Patrick Swayze doing Black Dog after To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar.

p.s. And it would explain pretty much Wesley Snipes' entire career since appearing in To Wong Foo...

Now really... if some guy put his tongue down another guys throat, said guy being heterosexual would probably take out a concealed weapon and assault the hell out of the man who just frenched him until he is dead. I seriously doubt in this day and age that his only reaction would be "Dude you must be gay".
