Well, there's angry, and there's WAY OVER THE TOP! And Wilder's performance in Wonka is of the latter, I'm afraid.

I don't know dude. So by that logic Wilders perfomance was on par with Travolta's "SPELL YOUR NAME" incident?

Except that Wilder doesn't make me want to take a shower. I think it was about the same level of flamboyance, but not quite so lame or hammy.

No, "While you were still learning how to SPELL your name!" was far, far, worse. But both performances are definitely in the same arena. I think that Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory actually had the potential to be good. Battlefield Earth was doomed from the start. Dahl wasn't a hack writer who founded a religion in order to make money and sell some of his crappy sci-fi novels.

Hm.  I would like something different: Perhaps a montage of the foulness that befalls the evil children.  Augustus shooting through the pipe, Violet being rolled out of the room, Verucca falling through the trap door, and finally, Mike being dropped into his mother's bag.

A different approach, mrbasehart.  Not a bad idea.

And a side note...  Extras on the disc?  I'm thinking I might tack on the Wonka-spoof episode of Family Guy ("Wasted Talent").

I'd go with Wonka's introductory Summersault.

I'd go with Wonka's introductory Summersault.

Did you ever hear the story behind that. Gene Wilder wanted to have Wonka walk out as a cripple with a cane, because you didn't know if he was lying or not about a disability, and then he would do the rolling somersault at the end to surprise everyone.

Furthermore, he adamantly said if that part wasn't done in the movie, he wouldn't do the movie. He only would do it if he could add that scene.

Yeah, I watched that on the extra features too.  That's kinda why I chose this as my stinger.  I think the complete silence to everyone cheering fit the form ot the stinger well.

"What is this, a freak-out?"

No other choice for a stinger even came close to entering my mind.

I think anything leading up to and including the Wonkavator shattering the glass ceiling is completely and utterly hilarious.  I have never seen a man as excited about risking the life of himself and others than Mr. Wonka.
