I was outside having a smoke break at work about 15 minutes ago. As I finished my smoke and headed to the door, some random guy walked out. I don't know who he was but he had a "visitor" security badge. Anyways, in passing he says to me...

"I think I'll have one more deathstick before I hit the road."

Unable to resist dropping movie references just to amuse myself... Of course I replied... with a Jedi-like handwave...

"You don't need to have a deathstick. You want to go home and rethink your life."

I fully expected the guy to give me a befuddled look and go about his business... but he looked at me as if I was being 100% serious and said "You're right... I need to quit."... then put the cigarette back into the box and kept walking out towards the parking lot.

Yea... it's a curse really. I was never terribly good at old fashioned book learnin'... but I've always had a mental trigger when it comes to dropping a movie / song lyric reference out of left field.

Keeping with the Star Wars theme, I used to pull the "you don't need to see my identification" out a lot when I was buying beer and/or smokes... While I wouldn't say it ever had a very high success rate... it would work more times then I thought it would. It's amazing how you can get away with simple suggestion when people aren't really paying much attention. "Yea... you look old enough"
