76, y'all. So thus my extreme love of all things 80s. I worked at an indie video store for like a decade so I've seen plenty of films from all decades, and the 70s really had a lot of great stuff so this list was pretty easy for me to put together.

I am a child of 1975, but i spent a lot of time with 70's cinema on UHF stations and cable growing up. One of my local channels showed barely edited versions (some cursing was silenced, some wasn't. No violence was removed, but nudity was) of Taxi Driver and Dog Day Afternoon and many other films with strong adult content during the daytime on both Saturday and Sunday, until local churches bought most of that time to air their own pornographic weekly rituals to warp my fragile little mind.
You know, if the space man puma thing turns out to be the correct religion, I for one will be very surprised.

You can tell we're all big film fans here at the rifftrax forum, you've probably seen that news link going around that says you're smart if you watch B-movies! So you know we're top tier film fans when we find the charm in the weird stuff on the sidelines as well.

I was born in the 80s, I've seen 140 movies from the 1970s at least. I was just going through letterboxd deleting some of the erroneous stuff from the imdb import. I love classic movies, film noir etc, but for me the number does taper off each decade earlier I go. It's fun having those stats, especially since I see imdb removed the button to sort your movie ratings by release date on their web site.

OK, finally decided to lock it in. I'm likely to be the only list missing a few big movies, my 26-28 were some really big ones.

But, no regrats
FINE

Up to 8 lists (not including mine, which is almost done).  Hoping for even more by Friday!

Hopefully we'll hit the 10 list mark.  The more the merrier.

I think we're all going to be forced to leave off some big name titles. I know I have a few, and at least 1 where I might be the only one who left it off... unless you left it off as well. Then there'll be two  ;)

About 45% of those were Benji movies.  It was a wild decade.

Last night I was looking around Netflix and, hey, there was Benji! So I clicked on it, watched it a spell before realizing that I had seen it before. I must have blocked it from my memory (it wasn't so hot). Lots of 60s TV stars from the U.S. in it.

I have 25, but a few of them are mostly filler, so I'm still thinking about it.

Besides, I always wait until the last second to submit my list  8)

EDIT: Also, I'm astounded how many movies I thought were from the 70s, turned out to be from the 80s or 60s  >:(

I had that problem too, but I'm always terrible at placing things in a timeline which is why I work strictly off of a list so I don't goof.

I'm usually have no problem with it.  The films I don't get right usually are the cheeseball MST3k/riffttrax fare.  FRANKENSTEIN ISLAND CAME OUT IN 1981, SOMEHOW!?

My list is in. It's very seventies. None of the movies have aged particularly well. They all belong rotting back in that ugly decade but I still love them. The extensive wiki lists of 70s movies sure brought up a few pleasant surprises. As they say, I was there so I don't remember any of it.

Probably 1/4 of my list can be found on IMDB's top 250. Yes I know, just call me Mister Conformist.

Speaking of IMDb, some of the well known classic movies I noticed only had 20,000 something user ratings on IMDb, less ratings than say Battle Angel that came out last week. Random note, I wonder how much you can tell about the popularity of a movie via the amount of ratings on IMDb for example, sometimes a seemingly obscure movie has a similar number of votes with a more well known movie etc. Maybe it skews towards whichever random demographics dig the hobby of rating every movie on IMDb, random ramble here. At the very least, I put a bit more stock in these random voters than the RottenTomatoes numbers, but overall everybody likes different stuff. I've been rating on IMDb forever myself.

Anyhoo, I just sent my list in, pumped for the countdown!

I was going through my list to confirm all the years, and I just discovered The Shining is from 1980. God dammit.
