They did say there's going to be a Nintendo Direct in the near future focusing on the 3DS.
Really? Well I will have to be following that closely so I don't miss it.

I hope there won't be regional stuff again.  When I was living in Japan there wasn't, so I could buy DS games there that would work anywhere.  I picked up some great games unavailable in English speaking regions.  Then I heard that later they made the games and/or DSes that are region specific, which I don't like.

I take the Switch as a sign that Nintendo has seen the light and won't be doing region locking anymore.

Okay, call me crazy but... I've seen plenty of footage of Super Mario Odyssey and there's this part of my brain that's screaming "What was preventing Nintendo from making this for the Wii?" I'm serious, I honestly wonder, with a side-by-side comparison of the graphics in Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Mario Odyssey in my head... would it really have been so difficult to develop it for the Wii? I mean again, call me crazy but I don't see how the graphics in that game are that much of a big step up from the Wii.

Spoiled for size.

Here's a pretty good comparison. Note the textures of the grass and cliffsides vs. the individual blades of grass and actually-sculpted cliffsides.

So it's absolutely not the point and I'm sure the game is a lot of fun and I might even buy it someday when I get a Switch, cause I do plan on getting one around November... but... that grass texture looks like shit.  Just sayin.

Looks a bit nicer in action, but yeah. Not the point.

The game is absolutely beautiful, but I subscribe to the Nintendo philosophy of style (and gaming) over graphics processing power anyway.
