So what have we learned?
« on: March 12, 2018, 10:00:32 AM »
I learned that a famous bounty hunter can come to a location with no idea what his target looks like and basically be fooled into taking whoever is offered up.

I learned that it is somehow possible to tattoo an entire map on your penis.

I learned that a giant lumbering mountain sized turtle will meander toward a town briefly then just kind of give up.

I learned that you can get the nickname "Lash" simply for carrying a whip, even if you never actually use it.
I'm not particularly religious, and I don't really like Muppets, but I do love word play.

Okay, so a bounty hunter somehow knows his target is a woman on this planet, without knowing her name or what she looks like. I can buy that. What I can't buy is that he wouldn't realize Lash is too young to have committed the crimes his bounty is accused of.

He says she can change appearance, so presumably that would also include to make herself look younger.

I learned there was supposed to be an Oblivion 3 but the studio fell apart so it was never made.

* I learned Red Eye has a useless twin brother.

* I learned the "title" character is essentially a red herring.

* I learned notorious bounty hunters have the lamest taste in fashion.

Very much so. One problem I noticed when first watching BACKLASH: OBLIVION 2 is that is feels unfinished.

I learned that apparently the Oblivion movies are in continuity with Star Trek.

Seriously, the character of Sweeney was created by Peter David for the run on the Star Trek comics he did in the early 90's, the character even references it in the movie with the story of the Captain and his First Officer chap.

I would love to see ST Takei vaporize Oblivion Takei for scenery chewing.

Well that says he's human. In BACKLASH, he clearly isn't.

But that's pretty cool that Peter David may have recycled the idea for this film.

I learned that I have become such an irrepressible cat lady that I was amused by Miss Kitty (in both films) and her return to the world of the living actually made me smile.
(I guess I am ready for institutionalization, but it ain't happening if I can't take the cats with me.)

Lash LaRue would be so offended. Or excited. Or both.

I learned my memory can play tricks on me and that this was much worse than I remembered.

I learned no one will make Grease 2 jokes when Maxwell Caulfield appears in something. That amazes me.

I learned Takei can up his scenery chewing, which shouldn't have been possible after Oblivion 1, but it actually happened.

I learned someone can be bored enough to put a map on their own dick and stupid enough to show it to a thieving psychopath who is already pissed off at them.

I learned you can include a mountain turtle for no discernable reason. Or a brother of a dead character for no reason.

I learned the bad ass bounty hunter whose reputation is such that he could kick everyone's ass, can actually do it, which was pleasantly surprising.

I learned Musetta Vander still looks great in assless chaps.

I learned Issac Hayes can be in a movie for no apparent reason.

I learned this was shot back to back with Oblivion 1, in the same way Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2, and Gor and Outlaw (of Gor) were.
