Oh God, please let this be good. Dune is my all-time favorite book, but I feel it may be inherently unfilmable. David Lynch's version was more true to the tone of the book, while the mini series was more true to the plot. But they both were missing a lot of the subtext.

But if anyone can pull this off, it's Villeneuve.

Read all the books as a kid (all of the books written by Frank Herbert, not the sequels written by his kid). Never watched the mini-series and really didn't like Lynch's take. Most interesting Dune film to me (although I'm sure if he got to make the movie he wanted to make, it wouldn't have been anything at all like the book(s) and perhaps wouldn't have been very good, but it would have been interesting) was the documentary about Alejandro Jodorowsky's attempt to make a Dune movie, "Jodorowsky's Dune".

LONG LIVE THE FIGHTERS!

I know that line isn't actually in the book, but it's so iconic from the movie, they'd better fit in... Speaking of fighters, I can absolutely see Dave Bautistic as the Beast Rabban. I just hope he isn't cast as the Baron Harkonnen, or worse still, Feyd Rautha.

Also, PLEASE no sound weapons. These aren't in the book at all.Jessica and Paul has a sort of super martial arts she got from the Bene Gesserit Order, which she passed to he, and they then taught the Fremen. Between that, their abil
