Oh, and I really, really, hate Gypsy.
2nd!!!!!

I don't hate Gypsy, but I never felt that she added anything to the show. Plus, you really have to strain to understand what she's saying sometimes, whether it was Jim or Pat voicing her.

At least they didn't force her into episodes too much. I think they had the sense to realize she was redundant to the process and didn't keep parading her around when we didn't want to see her, a la Jar Jar. That said, I'm pretty much of the same opinion as you about her. She did have some moments later in the Sciffy episodes where she'd pop in and make Mike and the Bots look juvenile, which is good for a laugh.

That's true. I do like when J/M & TB are doing something stupid and Gypsy just pops in, shakes her head, says "Boys," and leaves.

I can't belive there are some out there that think Gypsy was anything less than completely essential!
She was the straight-person of the group, as well as the femenine balance. MST3K wouldn't have been MST3K without Gyps.

Besides her voice, what's feminine about a dimwitted robot who vaguely resembles a vacuum cleaner?

So all those episodes that Gypsy wasn't in must have been from a different series altogether...hmm...interesting

A favorite Gypsy moment: When she swallowed Tom Servo in the final host segment and had to projectile vomit him out.  I think that would be "The Creeping Terror" but I could be wrong.   Just the length of what they went through to have a segment of Gypsy stretched out with Servo's shape showed how hard the prop guys could work.

Joel is a sleepy, whiny quitter.  When will one of the old group show up to guest in a Rifftrax?

Actually, her voice was done (quite badly) by a man. She's femenine because she played, at different points, the Mother Figure, the Daughter, occasionally the Girlfriend. She was the femenist advocate, and the ship's maintainer. She wasn't my favorite charicter, but I still feel she was essential to the show.
And anyway, the disembodied voice can't be the only female!

Gypsy was performed originally by Jim Mallon and later by Pat Brantseg, both of whom made her sound really annoying.

The only segment I've seen her play a big role in and enjoyed was where she kept telling Crow that she "didn't get him" while his attempts at explaining himself get increasingly more complex, until he storms off (I think) in frustration.  Tom enters, and Gypsy tells Tom the exact same thing, that she doesn't "get him", and Tom replies, "Nobody gets me baby, I'm like the wind!"   But that's still down to Tom's response more than anything.
