The Bortus stuff was unbearable, but I thought they did the old trope of falling in love on the holodeck much better than TNG ever did.

Well, the "old" trope is falling in love with an imaginary character, but the holodeck is the science fiction equivalent.

And I just remembered where the idea of recreating someone from their posts was used before, it was the basis of the Battlestar spinoff Caprica, a guy simulating his dead daughter from all her online info was how the Cylons began.

I thought what made the falling in love on the holodeck situation much better than the times it was done on Star Trek was that Malloy's friends were freaked out by it.  And he couldn't convince them it was OK.

I haven't gotten around to that one. But the two Kaylon episodes and the following Krill peace treaty episode were all great. I particularly liked that these paid off a lot of stuff that has been being set up for quite a while.

What a cast for this latest one, all those admirals...

And Marina Sirtis as the new teacher, hope she becomes a regular.

This show scratches my Star Trek itch moreso than Discovery.

    • Yep, I have a deviantART gallery. But it's pretty cheerful drawings-- no angsty poems or black-and-white photos of wooden chairs.

I hope they're smart enough to not end on a cliffhanger next week. I don't think they will.

I suspect it'll end with something catastrophic, like the Kaylon would have successfully attacked Earth if Ed and Kelly hadn't been commanding the Orville. Or would that be too much of that "it's their DESTINY" shit like Star Trek: The Star Trek had in '09? If a supernova is involved, I'm leaving!
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

I thought the finale was great, they did the ramifications of Kelly ghosting Ed perfectly.  And the key difference being the doctor and her kids was a nice touch, wasn't anything Ed or Kelly did, it was the Doctor not joining the Orville that let the Kaylon wipe out most of the galaxy.

So, it seems the show was taking to long to put together for Fox, so it's moving to Hulu, and we probably won't get season 3 until late 2020.

They had a sweet deal but then they divorced it after two months.
