The double dragons swore to avenge her death!

Genre
Beat 'em Up

Release Date
December 1988
You are Billy and/or Jimmy Lee, two kick butt martial arts brothers.  After defeating the Black Warrior gang and their leader Willy, Willy is out for revenge.  To this end, he straight up kills Marion, the girl you rescued in the last game.  And now you want revenge, and you are going to battle your way through a lumber storehouse, a heliport, a farm and the bad guys secret base to do it.

Basically, you are kicking, punching and using any weapon you can to defeat the baddies.  You have more martial arts moves this time around, including a hurricane kick.

Trivia Double Dragon II was initially developed as an upgrade kit for the original Double Dragon, but evolved into a stand-alone game due to an increase in memory size, resulting in the developers reusing assets for both games.

Legacy Mostly it is about improving on the original.

On the Duck Hunt conversation: I still own an old TV. It doesn't get a lot of use, but It has a VHS and DVD player plugged into it and if I ever wanted to revisit my past and play Duck Hunt like it was the 80s, I could.

Of course Nintendo of America tweaked that box art slightly to protect the youth. Here's the original art...

    • Yep, I have a deviantART gallery. But it's pretty cheerful drawings-- no angsty poems or black-and-white photos of wooden chairs.

I dunno, even as an adult the sight of a little bit of buttcheek makes me wanna dig a pit in my basement and make a basket pulley-- you know, the classic rubs-the-lotion DIY project. However, I'm old enough to fight that common, baser urge now.

So, you know, imagine seeing that when you're only EIGHT and unable to handle it maturely. Nintendo of America was right to shield us from it.

I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

Oh yeah we could probably do a LOC of the best NES music. In particular, Blaster Master, Mega Man 2, Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden 2, Castlevania and Bionic Commando have some of the best music on the console. Oh yeah, AND Contra.

Hi Nemo.  I've come to invite you to Slumberland.

Genre
Platformer

Release Date
NA: September 1990
JP: December 7, 1990
EU: December 12, 1990

You play Little Nemo, a comic strip character from the 1900's.  You are invited to Slumberland, so you decide to go.  It seems the princess of Slumberland wants a playmate and she's chosen you.  But it turns out Slumberland is filled with monsters and danger.  Someone really should have given you the heads up on that one.

You have to avoid dangerous monsters, but if you give candy to animals, you can ride them or become one with them and gain new powers.  In order to get to the next level, you need to find keys so that you can open doors to the next dream.

Trivia Rather than being based on the old comic strip, this is based more specifically on the box office bomb of a movie that had some crazy talented creators involved.  Ray Bradbury, Brad Bird and Hayao Miyazaki were all involved at points but over time they walked away.  In 1988, the owners of the incomplete film decided to finish it off, resulting in a mess of a movie.

Legacy The game came with a Megaman sticker.
