That's cute, because your sig shows you already know.

So here's an unrelated article about another random movie:
https://boundingintocomics.com/2019/07/01/elizabeth-banks-on-charlies-angels-women-are-the-audience-and-the-message-is-to-believe-women/

And a vid too:

Interesting site . . . it seems to take a lot more bias to push an outlet into the LEFT end than the RIGHT (vs. one of the CENTER or LB designations).

Oh well, that story isn't much in dispute anyway, as just a bunch of quotes from Banks.

What agenda is that?

Hmm, this is embarrassing, you've stumped me.  Or maybe it's the exact same one that was shoved into Ghostbusters . . . with the exact same result . . .

...again, which is?

That's cute, because your sig shows you already know.

How so?  I don't remember anyone saying new MST had an agenda.   What agenda are you referring to?

“If you’re at all enlightened, she’ll play like gangbusters. If you’re a closet misogynist, she’ll scare the fuck out of you, because she’s tough and strong but very feminine,” Miller said. “We did not trade certain gender traits for others; she’s just very strong, and that frightens some dudes. You can see online the responses to some of the early shit that’s out there, trolls on the internet. I don’t give a fuck.”

No I've read everything, like I said.  Though unless you're quoting me I might not pick up that you're addressing me (or expecting a response).

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

To the contrary, I've given it significant leeway because of what it had to accomplish with the restrictions it was under (as the last film in a disjointed trilogy).  I feel I've been more forgiving of flaws in ROS than TFA or TLJ.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

One of ROS's flaws is that the plot feels like it's being made up on the spot (as should be expected when there are multiple cuts (as in whole versions) and it has to support swapping out different reshoots and half a dozen alternate endings (according to leaks)).  And that limits rewatchability for me (because rewatching doesn't help me understand any better why the events happened as they did, or see them in a new light).

I said this in the TLJ thread, but I'm happy for anyone who got a movie they really liked, even if it's not for me (or I outright hate it).  And I empathize: Solo, the biggest SW bomb ever, is my favorite of the Disney flicks, and I've seen it three times.

I have Kunedog on ignore, and this conversation is reminding me why.

See that’s another thing I’ve heard, that decisions were being made on the spot in regards to the plot. What I’m most concerned with is if creative decisions work on a dramatic level. And yeah I guess they could’ve been rushed, but I’m a fan of the belief that art works best within restrictions(Nick Meyer Director of Star Trek 2 said this). I remember JJ saying that he and Chris Terrio just could not bring themselves to write the final scene because it was just too difficult for them on an emotional level. But they had to bring themselves to do that because deadlines.

Personally, I like to judge other Star Wars movies as to how well they lived up to the ideal of the original trilogy. While I don’t think any Star Wars trilogy is ever going to be better than the original trilogy, I do think the sequel trilogy For better or for worse told a pretty good story that worked dramatically and emotionally. Whether or not those two factors can really be separated out from each other is anyone’s guess.

Getting back to my original point though, I feel like everybody is judging the movie on a cold, analytical level that has less to do with the more human factors and approaching The film with a purely mathematical eye that eliminates  how you actually feel about a movie emotionally speaking. Yes I admit those factors are very subjective, but like I said I want to judge a Star Wars movie on how well it makes me feel like it’s telling a good story set in the Star Wars universe.

Interesting site . . . it seems to take a lot more bias to push an outlet into the LEFT end than the RIGHT (vs. one of the CENTER or LB designations).

I'm sure it seems that way from your perspective.

The link wasn't for your benefit.

Oh don't worry, the site has Buzzfeed and Feminist Frequency sugarcoated with the LEFT CENTER label; there was never much question who it's supposed to benefit.

"Sugarcoated" by having their left leaning bias pointed out.

So close to getting it...

Well, this got weird.

Saw this today, had major issues, still enjoyed it well enough. I think when Rey and Kylo Ben Ren were fighting together it made me wish someone would drop the compulsory rule of trilogies with galactic physical/spiritual implications and just focus more on one off adventures in the Star Wars universe. I could totally go for a Rey/Kylo Ben adventure.
You know, if the space man puma thing turns out to be the correct religion, I for one will be very surprised.
