Our Christmas special this year stars Whizzo the Clown. Whizzo’s not one of your big, flashy, Hollywood clowns who relies on clichés like “scripts” or “coherency.” Whizzo’s got huge, gross feet, a terrible catchphrase, and he’s ready to fly some kids to the North Pole on his streamer-powered magic carpet. And yes, for this movie, that qualifies as a plot description.

After thirty seconds with Whizzo, you’ll find yourself thinking, “Yeah, I can see where The Grinch was coming from.” Or maybe, “You know, Mr. Potter had some good ideas…” In fact, it might just be the movie to turn your coulrophobia into pantophobia!

RiffTrax Christmas Circus also features a short about Christmas trees that have human faces and communicate psychically with houseplants before dying and going to tree heaven. It is by far the most normal, sane part of this Christmas special.

We’re really sorry.

Whizzo very much inhabits the same spiritual universe as Balloon Land, the Ice Cream Bunny, and Ms. Velma from that Christmas special the Cinema Snob did. Great, awful stuff.

The mime trees, however, can go straight to hell.

I really lost it. This is the hardest I've laughed all year. I'm talking about parts of Whizzo. Really one their classics I think, but in Setting Up a Room kind of way.

Also, the French tree thing would have a been great just on it's own. With Whizzo, this may go down (I probably shouldn't use that verb and Whizzo in the same sentence, sorry) as one of my favorite Xmas specials ever and that includes the MST and CT cannon.

So Whizzo pretty much had no script, right?

The beginning credits say Screen Story by Frank Wiziarde. So if there was a script of any kind, it was only five minutes of material.

Whizzo's script was probably an outline of things to do and then improvising between them all.

There had to be "something" of a script given the girl's indifference/sadness towards the holiday prompting much of the "action" in the "plot."

Not in the script? The little girl dying of lung-cancer and everyone being indifferent about it.
