We can all generally agree that 2016 can choke on a turkey leg, but at least it was a pretty good year for Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans. The big reunion in Minneapolis was a triumph of ’90s nostalgia and goofy wordplay, the revived series has found a new home on Netflix, and for the fourth year running Shout! Factory is hosting a MST3K Turkey Day marathon so we can gather together around the warm glow of our TVs and give thanks for wisecracking robots and bad movies.

On that note, this morning Shout! Factory released some details on when and how you can tune in to this year’s marathon: This year, Turkey Day will be live-streamed through the portal at ShoutFactoryTV.com, and will begin on Thursday, November 24 at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT. Series creator Joel Hodgson will once again host the marathon, and this year he’ll be joined by special co-host Jonah Ray, host of the revived MST3K, for brand-new episode intros. (Ray and Hodgson made for a winning combo at the MST3K reunion, so this should be good.)

As usual, Shout! Factory is being coy about which six titles will be included in the marathon, saying only that they’ll be “the six most popular classic episodes as chosen from the recent fan survey of the 100 Most Popular Classic MST3K Episodes.” Last year, Turkey Day featured Outlaw, Eegah, Gorgo, Teenagers From Outer Space, Danger! Death Ray, and Santa Claus Conquers The Martians, so you can probably count those out.

I'm hoping they show some teaser footage from the new season.

I'm hoping they show some teaser footage from the new season.

I'd say that's fairly likely - MAYBE a release date announcement if Netflix has scheduled it?
FINE

If nothing else, we get some Jonah/Joel collaboration. They have kind of an awesome mentor/pupil chemistry that's fun to watch.

I just got confirmation both from the official @MST3K twitter account and from a Shout Factory email that there will be a YouTube simulcast in addition to the Pluto TV broadcast!

Yippee Skippee!

Nice!  Glad Puma Man made it. Was my choice for favorite episode.

And now Pod People. The people picked winners so far.

And now The Final Sacrifice which I accidentally left off my voting list.

I think the final 3 will be Space Mutiny, Manos, and then Mitchell in that order.

So, there are Lee Trevino riffs in at least 3 of the 6 episodes (Mitchell, Final Sacrifice, Space Mutiny). Weird.

Enjoyed the episodes (as always), but was pretty disappointed we didn't get anything from the new cast outside of Jonah doing the brief introductions with Joel. Those introductions were fine (and Jonah was given the chance to be funnier than Joel in those brief introductions as Joel mostly played the straight man), but anything from the new Crow and Tom would have been appreciated and the whole new crew riffing a short was what I was hoping for (although not expecting).
Enjoyed Pod People (that terrible incomprehemsible song is always hilarious) and Space Mutiny the most. Despite having seen it maybe 14 times now, I'm still always amazed at how bad Manos is.
(And yes, my wife works retail, has to go in to work every Thanksgiving night, so sleeps most of Thanksgiving day, so for the second year in a row I watched most of the Turkey Day marathon start to finish.)

Joel mentioned in an update that he wanted to show an episode of the new show, but they aren't quite ready yet. Getting close, but they are still deep in post production.
