Samurai Cop available now!

The Samurai Cop is here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and he’s already infringed on enough movies and cliches so he’s just going to stop with that introduction right there. Yes, the cop they call Samurai has travelled to Los Angeles from a faraway land they call San Diego. Because it would just make no sense to have the movie take place in San Diego, or to have the cop be from LA to start with. Or, y’know, Japan.

Why do they need the Samurai Cop in town? Because frankly, the chief was telling everybody how absurd his haircut was, and nobody would believe him, so he said “Look, I’ll have him come to town and you can see this damn thing for yourselves.” It is a work of art. If it seems like there’s a serious threat at any point in time, it’s going to leap off his head and start kicking ass on its own.

Samurai Cop is assigned a partner, whose main job appears to be mugging to the camera as the Samurai Cop punches people. Together, they’ve got to bust a gang whose stated goal is putting someone’s head on their piano. These villains are lead by Robert Z’dar, who will hopefully reinforce any piano he plans to put his own prodigious cranium on top of.

Decapitations, explosions, poorly subbed in stunt doubles, mangled dialogue, prominent lion heads, and unfortunate banana hammocks abound in this extremely eighties-y nineties movie. Join Mike, Kevin, Bill, and Alfonso Rafael Federico Sebastian for Samurai Cop!

I've really been looking forward to this for a long time! (It was my suggestion, after all)

Great riff! But...

So, you leave Tommy Wiseau's naked butt in The Room, but cut out all of the nude scenes from this. Interesting choice. ??? I guess they were kind of gratuitous.

The print looks great, but the audio sync is off in many places. Perhaps due to the editing?

The only nude scene I noticed missing was the one between Z'Dar and his red-haired henchwoman which, to be fair, we see *all* of her and not just her chest as is usually the case with nude scenes they leave in the movies.  So, there's quite a bit of difference between topless nudity and seeing genitals, a big enough difference it probably starts to blur some lines between selling a movie and practically selling porn.

I was let down too because, a) she's a great looking woman and b) the Robert Z'Dar having sex jokes probably would have been great, but I can see why that and some of the more gratuitous nudity scenes were edited out as opposed to the ones where the woman is just topless.

I noticed the audio syncs too, I just figured it was the poor ADR used in the movie's production, I don't recall how well the audio syncs int he actual movie.

There is a scene with the woman cop, and the one with the restaurant owner got cut down.

The audio is fine in my copy (the Joe Bob Briggs version)

That must be on the server side. I normalize everything so it's all, for the most part, uniform. There is a new mix that went out (I thought the mix was hot when i did the sample so I redid it from scratch) so you might try re-downloading or checking out the ISO.
Any issues with the RiffTrax main page should be directed to support@rifftrax.com Attempts to engage with me directly about such matters will result in ridicule.

I concur with this. The comfortable volume setting on my speakers for riffs is usually between 16-22. I had to put it on 11 for this one. I used the HD-med option (playing from my NAS drive).

No Spinal Tap jokes, please.
