Well my Nan (May she rest in peace  :'() was the child of an original IRA man so the likelihood of her ever being conservative was slim to none.

Well like I said in the Pratchett thread my nan was almost identical in personality (and pretty similar in personal history if you know what I mean) to Nanny Ogg in the Discworld books.

Both of my Grandmothers were massive influences on me growing up.

Have to say neither Kirby or Kidby have really done Nanny Justice in my opinion though Kirby did one draw her looking a surprisingly close to my nan.

I do like most of Kidby's other work though, his Vetinari is spot on as far as I'm concerned

Kidby has some but so does this person who admits a Kidby influence and whose name I can't seem to determine.

Can't find Kidby's Otto except in my books and I don't have access to my scanner but here's ....... 's effort

I always imagined him a little bit more disheveled.

The Kidby one sort of is, loose floppy hair and watery facial expression.

The other artist also seems sort of influenced by whoever did the Dreamworks animated cartoons like Anastasia, take a look and you essentially see sketches for animated versions of the Discworld books.

There were a couple made by Cosgrove Hall: Wyrd Sisters and Soul Music much more angular character design however (and actually I didn't think they were wholly successful). Christopher played Death in them though :)

Oh and last Christmas Sky One in the UK did a live action version of Hogfather

This year there should be a live action version of The Colour of Magic Lee will play Death in that too.
