Ok so I got 2 computers back from my friend with Windows 10 loaded on them and figured I'd get started loading multiple years of tax software, but first I wanted to make sure the scanner and printers would work..
Both loaded with the existing drivers that worked on Windows 7 but neither can communicate with each other; computer/scanner, computer/printer.. Uninstalled the drivers for both several times but no luck. :-[
The scanners are Visioneer and run off of Vista drivers. Same with Lexmark.
Called Lexmark about the Z715 printers and they want to charge me $119 dollars which would only cover 2 computers and there's no guarantee they can fix the problem! I have 9 total!! I told them I'll replace them with another brand cheaper than that!

So, my question is: What brand flatbed scanner and printers would work on Windows 10 best?
Plug and Play would be nice but need something affordable for individual desk computer setups..
A combination setup like this
https://www.dealscube.com/listing/hp-envy-5660-wireless-all-in-one-color-inkjet-photo-printer-f8b04a/21384?gclid=CjwKEAiA9om3BRDpzvihsdGnhTwSJAAkSewLwJv2yGl1FcmKnpjIzdvKBgXHd1qvU_wuYQhBwusKsxoC5a_w_wcB
would work so long as it had a flatbed scanner to place worn or fraid original documents like birth certificates, passports, etc. that cannot be fed into a roller type scanner setup that could jam..

My computer has been doing some strange things since the last update. Every third or fourth time it goes to sleep I wake it to find my monitor or my mouse buttons won't wake with it. If the monitor doesn't come on I have to hard boot it. I thought it might be a recent Nvidia driver but that was before my first mouse incident. I haven't noticed anything else weird but I was curious if anyone else was getting weird problems from the recent updates.

Update:
Got my Lexmark Z-715 printers to work on Windows 10 along with my 'Loaded Baked Potato' skin :P
My Visioneer 7400, 9420, & 9520 flatbed scanners will work on 10 using the OneTouch driver that worked on Vista and Windows 7 but the scanners will not work using the Fax and Scan Wizard so I have to scan them in OneTouch, then use another program like Paint or Windows Picture Viewer (?) then crop the scanned image as needed and rename it.

And it's not recommended to use a 40GB hard drive because Win 10 uses between 25 - 30GB of space :o
Luckily I had a spare 500GB Western Digital on hand to replace it 8)

Went ahead and upgraded my entertainment computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10 a little while ago..
Went well for the most part but now I get some .dll error at boot-up and the HDMI audio no longer works.. Had to change from HDMI and use a DVI to VGA adapter on my video card to my 55 inch Vizio for my audio to work through my receiver for surround sound.
Not a big deal, just inconvenient :-\

I'd look for updated video drivers for the card, but if it's old you may be stuck with it the way it is.

Already did updates but it didn't fix the issue.. :(
The computer is pretty modern.. Play GTA 5 on it but now my game controller is apparently not compatible with Win 10 :-\
I'll probably let my IT guru friend take a look at it this week.

The big anniversary update wasted my evening, takes about as long to install as a new installation, and I had to reinstall my 2 programs that give me back windows 7 games and gadgets...

Going through the privacy stuff, looks like it didn't turn anything on that was off, but did add a few more things to turn off.

Oh, and WTF is with swapping the clock and the notification center?  I ended up turning off the icon for the notification center since I don't use it and you can't customize the order of the icons in that area of the taskbar...

I use this program to get my weather and Core Temp gadgets into windows 10:

http://8gadgetpack.net/

It comes with way more than 8, and lets you install more.

I upgraded win 10 from Windows 8.  Personally, I think it is much better than windows 8. Previously, I tried very hard to recover my windows 8 password.  Now, it only takes 10 minutes to recover windows 10 password without disk. This is a quite impressive advantage over windows 8.

It's clear when they did Windows 8 that Microsoft was convinced we'd only be using tablets by now. But when you're using it on a PC, it is the absolute worst. The start menu that fills up the whole screen, the little menus that pull up when you mouse too quickly along the edge of the screen. I have to use it at work, and I'm constantly having to work around it, rather than use it.
