Mistie Lib
« on: April 07, 2007, 03:25:19 PM »
Ok, I don't know if anyone noticed or not, but it's probably just me and a long, rollercoaster relationship with OCD, but either way, it's whatev.

In MST3K there are a lot of running sayings, words, phrases, and jokes. I'll list some I can remember and let's see if people can list more.

And have fun with it or so help me I'll have you scissored in half.

Do you think I'm Dale?/Thought I was Dale/Let's get creative
Madeline Albright(Or however you'd spell it if you cared that much)
Bennigans
Do you have cats?/*sniff*OH, you have cats, huh?
Straight outta community theater
Contact lenses

I'll come back to this later. I didn't realize how much of my life I waste listing those. But keep the list running!

He's a woozle and his name is Peanut.

that's always said after somebody says "I'd like you to meet somebody" or whenever a puppet makes an appearance
I really do like pie.

And as we left the clam flowage that day, we vowed never to return...

I have no clue what it means, but it's always funny to me.

I have no clue what it means, but it's always funny to me.

In the Amazing Colossal Episode Guide, it says that very joke is a reference to the boring, empty fishing shows that are played at 2 AM on outdoors networks. As the fisherman puts off into the sunset in his bass boat after a long day of pulling slimy fish out of the water, he says something like "The fishing was good here today, and I hope to return to Mudcrack River very soon..."

I remember reading that, but it never made sense. It sounds more like the closing narration of an '80s coming-of-age movie.

Hmm.. well, according to google a clam flowage is some miserable little swampy puddle in the middle of a larger, shallower swamp. Knowing how crazy fishermen are for getting up before dawn to spend the day in a small boat around smelly bait and biting insects, it seems like the place they'd congregate.

Here's one I never got; that Mike can't "see" motorcycles...?  I think I've seen every Mike episode but I can't track that reference down.

You mean when they say, "Start seeing motorcycles, " I think? It's a safety slogan/campaign, and I believe it has its roots in Minnesota, which makes it make that much more sense as an MST3K riff.

( As a kid, my dad's car had a "start seeing motorcycles" bumper sticker on it. )

The most common running joke I notice is when someone tries to leave the theater and has to be restrained.
