Rock Band 4
« on: March 05, 2015, 09:49:22 AM »
Hey, thanks for eating this topic as I submitted it.  Grumble.

Anyway, Rock Band 4 was announced today. 2015 release on all next gen platforms, The WiiU is, of course, not a next gen platform.

Additionally, Harmonix announced to prior owners that you won't need to rebuy your old DLC. If you bought it for RB1-3, you can get it for RB4 for no charge. They did note that it'll take time to export all 11 gajillion songs to RB4.

Harmonix also mentioned in their press release that they're trying to see if the old instruments can be made compatible with the new systems, but placed the ball in Sony and Microsoft's court on that one, saying there's hardware   issues on their end. The keyboards probably won't be making a comeback though.

As long as pro drums are back I'm in! After I save enough to buy an XBone. I imagine RB3 songs might not make the transition.

But will the DLC be cross-platform?  I have all my Rock Band on X-box and was thinking about a Ps4.  They didn't outright say no to that on their FAQ....

There is a thread on Reddit, that it's up to Sony & MS. So your best action is to tell them you want it.

Missed this thread when I made a post about it in the news thread.  Here's a video about it.

My drum kit is still set up next to me, but I haven't played in a couple of months.

Well, news.

One, Bathtub, I just watched a pre-alpha stream of the game. I did see the "pro-drums" tag over the drummer's bar during song select.

And the first six songs:

Avenged Sevenfold – "Hail to the King"
Fleetwood Mac – "You Make Loving Fun"
    Jack White – "Lazaretto"
The Killers – "Somebody Told Me"
Spin Doctors – "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong"
    The Who – "The Seeker"

Yay. The Seeker. I couldn't get enough of that song in GH, I said sarcastically.

Man I hope the interface is prettied up a bit, wasn't too impressed with how it looks. I hate how coy they had to be about stuff, but I think they are going back to the RB2 world tour type set up.

UGH Xbones are so expensive.

Wasn't "Somebody Told Me" already in Rock Band previously?

The article I saw today they finally said "sorry. we can't do that."

That was never going to happen, there is just no way to easily confirm license purchases across platforms.

More concerned about Sussmans comments that they are considering not doing online play at release.
