The Areas of My Expertise
« on: April 04, 2007, 08:16:53 AM »
"But that was the short title, the full title of my book is... An Almanac of Complete World Knowledge Compiled with Instructive Annotation and Arranged in Useful order By Me, John Hodgman A Professional Writer, in THE AREAS OF MY EXPERTISE
Which Include: Matters Historical, Matters Literary, Matters Cryptozoological, Hobo Matters, Food Drink & Cheese (a kind of Food), Squirrels & Lobsters & Eels, Haircuts, Utopia, What Will Happen In the Future, and Most Other Subjects"

For those of you who watch the Daily Show, John Hodgman is the first person to go from guest to contributor. He commonly provides incredibly false trivia, and alludes to this in his book. He says it is "The main advantage this book has over libraries."

This is a truly hilarious book, anybody else a Hodgman fan?

I've never read any of his stuff, but he's gold on the Daily Show.  I love his understated delivery, compared to the slightly annoying Jason Jones/Samanth Bee delivery.

Ah yes, I got this book a year ago when it first came out. Really funny stuff, love the hobo names. The guy is really good at making up history.
He split Robin's arrow in twain!!

I read that book about a year and a half ago. I loved the snippets on the 51 states. I'll have to read it again soon.
