I really don't like Rick Warren, but I have to agree with his statements at 1:00

Also, here's a link to the article mentioned yesterday.

Just an asshole being an asshole.
Ironically, I found out about Robin Williams' death when I was flipping through Sirius XM channels Monday and stopped on the political right station (which I do sometimes just to see what horrible things they are saying now), and Mark Levin was talking about it. He's about as right-wing a nutjob as Rush, and I couldn't disagree with him more about politics. But he was being very respectful towards Robin Williams, he was only talking about it because the news had just come out. So I give Levin credit for that.
There may seem to be a lot of conservatives saying horrible things (because the worst ones speak the loudest) about Robin Williams' death and people who commit suicide in general. But it wasn't that long ago that a lot of us on the Left were singing 'Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead' when Margaret Thatcher died.

That's because Thatcher was the female (and original) version of Dick Cheney... and she didn't commit suicide. She did live a lot longer than she should have though.

At this point I'd be more shocked if Limbaugh didn't say something insensitive and hurtful when something like this happens, he's become about as reliable as the Westboro Baptist Church in that regard.

It's how he gets ratings and subsequently money.

Where the hell were all these people calling themselves his friends, on the day he died?

That's not how depression works sadly.

This seems so show he was at least somewhat in denial about his condition:

And the poor guy discovered he had early stages of Parkinson's disease..
Quote
Robin Williams 'had Parkinson's'

Robin Williams was suffering from the early stages of Parkinson's disease at the time of his death, his wife has said.

Susan Schneider said her husband had been sober but "not yet ready to share publicly" his struggles with Parkinson's.

She added that he had also been suffering from anxiety and depression.

The 63-year-old actor was found dead in an apparent suicide in his home on Monday.

Police said he died of asphyxia due to hanging.

"It is our hope in the wake of Robin's tragic passing, that others will find the strength to seek the care and support they need to treat whatever battles they are facing so they may feel less afraid," Susan Schneider said in a statement.

Parkinson's is a degenerative neurological disorder.

It is believed that Parkinson's is brought on by a mixture of genetic and environmental factors, but the exact cause is still unknown.

Its symptoms can include tremors and other uncontrollable movements, impaired balance and co-ordination, stiffness, slowness of movement, loss of smell, a decline in intellectual functioning, and speech and swallowing problems.

It is estimated to affect about five million people worldwide and usually, but not always, occurs in old age.

Williams was famous for films such as Good Morning Vietnam and The Fisher King, and won an Oscar for his role in Good Will Hunting.

In the past, Williams had talked and even joked about his struggles with alcohol and drugs. Police confirmed he had been treated for depression.
Just really really sad all the way around

If he was diagnosed with Parkinson's then I could see it scaring the crap out of someone like him, and being a big multiplier to any depression he was dealing with.

I was thinking he might not have been dealing with old age well because it was probably slowing him down, but the thought of being immobilized must have really been weighing on him.

Parkinson's is a devastating diagnosis for anyone, and for someone who's identity was so wrapped up in a quick wit I have to imagine it was the worst possible news for his health.
