RT Live!: Sharknado - Discussion

I received a "I survived Sharknado" T-shirt in the mail yesterday.  My sister in Nashville bought it somewhere.   I am thinking of wearing it to next month's meet and greet in Nashville.   On the other hand, it's a Sharknado T-shirt.  Do I want to wear it anywhere?

Probably not the beach...

I wonder if this would be possible?
1) This shouldn't violate film rights, correct? Unless they stipulated something in the contract they signed to not offer the performance in any audio or video form.
2) There were no pauses during the film, so we should be able to sync it with the Sharknado DVD or BD without too much difficulty

Probably not. When they were still negotiating with Summit over Twilight last year, that was a pretty popular suggestion once it was announced that there wouldn't be a VOD. Turns out something like that does fall under film/performance rights. I would assume that Sony and The Asylum are no different.

I think sound from the movie would inevitably be in the mix from the live show. I doubt they could separate it out completely. They'd have to do a studio recording for an MP3.

I took my mom to the encore showing of this, this being our fourth Rifftrax Live (the others being Plan 9, the Holiday shorts, and Manos, but we're going to the premiere of the Godzilla Riff). The film just...why does it keep going from pouring rain to sunny skies in seconds? 

Also, regarding that Spring Fever short, when the guy was babbling about springs for the last five minutes, mom whispered "Oh, shut up."

I'm not sure if discontinuity of the skies was an "intentional" part the movie makers did to go along with the "playing to genre" thing they supposedly did or if it was just what happened due to their Give a Damn not being very high.

And, yeah, that Spring Fever short is odd.  Were there really people around in the 1940s complaining about springs (propping their couch up on blocks like a Buick to fix it) and needed to be convinced that springs were a good thing that society needed?  Did people really need to be informed on how a spring worked and why they were so important?  I don't think I've ever regarded a spring in my whole life.

What were the digital goodies?  I typed what I thought Mike said to type, and all I see are three versions of the same clip, from shark attack 3.  Nothing else. Am  I missing anything?

Ouch, I missed the theme song.  It expired July 25 and I just did not see it.

As for the first part, I'm betting their Give a Dan was pretty low.  As for  the spring issues you mention, yes, they existed.  But, they didn't make the news often, because you couldn't swing a broken couch without hitting an exploding housewife (use of gasoline to clean clothes and all.)  Oh. if only they knew of steam, that mortal enemy of fire...
