City of the Learning

We all learn things from these movies, for better or worse, so what did you learn this time out, folks?

I continue to learn that in the '50s most college students were 40 years old.

I learned that the history and science departments absolutely hate each other.

I learned that it's a good idea to conceal your animal sacrifice alter behind a thin curtain in the middle of a public room.
Oh bite me, it's fun!

I learned you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make her NOTICE ALL THE SIGNS SHE WAS JUST READING ABOUT AND GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE!

I learned ripping off Psycho by introducing a girl character as the lead and then killing her off was all the rage in 1960.

I learned that Rob Zombie must like this movie, or at least Lee's performance in it, since he sampled him saying "Superstition, fear and jealousy" for this little song of his you might have heard.

Gotta love a song named after Grandpa Munster's car.

Grandpa Munster's car was named DRAGULA?! That fact alone is more awesome than anything Rob Zombie has ever done.

Yep, the Dragula Deluxe, made out of a casket.  We actually saw the original close up recently at a small museum in Tennessee, I'll try and get the pic up soon.

And the makers must have REALLY wanted to protect the car since they included cement rather than just weak glue.

I learned that it is okay to establish the one vulnerability of the villains just two minutes before the end of the film.

I learned that the elderly priest didn't mind telling the heroes how to fight witches late in the game, rather than, I dunno, offering them a cross and a flashlight so they could do that "shadow of the cross thing" without uprooting a damn headstone?

I learned that you can make your film's hero and his sidekick completely indistinguishable.

This is why you need Bruce Campbell making these decisions
