Although if Scapelli de-evolved into a big silverback gorilla and proceeded to tear Koopa to pieces, that would have been hilarious.

But then he would have almost vaguely resembled Donkey Kong, and we can't have something that looks like it comes from a Nintendo game.

Good point.

I learned this movie's makers don't know the difference between apes (which humans evolved from) and monkeys which are a completely different kind of mammal from which humans did NOT evolve.
Not really surprising. There are a lot of people that probably don't really understand the difference.

Hi, I'm Bob Evil.
Any relation to Bob Jackass?

Scapelli just reminded me of Time Chasers.

I learned that the square root of 26,481 is 191.

Although 191 squared is 36,481.

Math is confusing.

I learned that the set designers from Space Mutiny and The Apple evidently had a child that went on to develop the sets on this film. I learned that there must have been a Mario game with a giant moss covered ceiling anus. You can also evidently adopt a child and be considered its brother.

"Hey, I dropped our only flashlight in this cave beneath an abandoned sewer line. Think that will be a problem?"

"Nah, the natural ambient light of the New York underground will show us the way."

Also ROCKET BOOTS!! Why'd they even take them off?

So, Koopa has this machine that can "evolve" people put into it into much more intelligent lifeforms.  Why hasn't he done this to his entire staff?!

More importantly, why didn't he do that to himself?

Yeah, I understand an evil person not wanting anyone smart enough to overthrow him, but if he has a magic "get smarter" button there's no reason not to use it to come up with a better plan.

While I understand he thinks of himself as already really smart and evolved already, there isn't a reason he wouldn't use it on himself when he's alone. Especially since it doesn't seem to make much of a physical change (that we saw). SO no one would know.

I learned that in the late '80s Princess Peach had a better agent than both Bob Hoskins and Dennis Hopper.

Amazing how much sadder that one little detail makes things.
