Why do they call him Daredevil?

I mean why not DareSatan or DareBeelzebub or DareMephisto? I mean Why Daredevil? He doesn't exactly leap 100 cars/helicoptors/sheep/Fat twins  on motorcyles while he himself is on a motorcycle. Which leads me to why didn't they call Ghost Rider Daredevil? Ghost Rider doesn't ride around on ghosts! Secondly... why are Daredevil's initials DD? Doesn't he know DD is already taken for things like Dungeons and Dragons and Duran Duran?

Umm... cause DareSatan makes no sense.  A daredevil doesn't have to ride a motorcycle, it's just a way to describe a person who takes great risks.  Also DD is just a nickname and he was a character created before either of the two.
