...and, apparently Lord and Miller said no. There goes my renewed interest.

Is there any information on why? Did they just not like the script?

Here's the story. Sounds like they wanted to keep their options open, per The Wrap's tweet. The story mentions they did the same thing with The Lego Movie at first, so maybe the door's not completely shut.  With 22 Jump Street being a likely hit this summer, they could probably name their next project after that.

Without them, my interest in GB3 goes from 'intrigued' to 'dollar theatre out of pure nostalgia'.

At This point they should just forget it. Just take the audio from the Video Game and make an Animated Ghostbuster 3.

The five-year-old in me wants to see this happen so badly, but the stars themselves seem aligned against it.

I'd rather not see a movie come to pass at all, than see J.J. Abrams jump on board and warp it into a sleek-and-soulless reboot.

I was referring to the celestial stars, not actors. Besides...that kind of "joke" isn't all that funny.

It was a little funny.

No. It really wasn't.

I think the show must go on, and Harold Ramis would probably want them to do it; who would want their legacy to crash & burn?

But I want the original characters to have more than cameos or token apperances.

They said Venkman was going to be a ghost at one point for GB3. Now with a rewrite, CGI, and a sound alike Egon could materialize, just like they did with Brando & Olivier.

I think it would be fitting.
I make good words.
