I actually do like the winter olympics, though I know most people don't get into them.

I also enjoy watching olympic curling. I know, I'm awful, but I'm being serious. It's not the most exciting sure but I'll watch it when it's on. Seriously have you ever seen German curling? They get really intense it's actually pretty funny.

I have a friend who watches this JUST for the curling.

I love the winter Olympics, I've actually had the privileged to try the Luge and Curling on a visit to the Olympic park in Calgary.

That sounds really cool/terrifying. Curling seems like it would be really difficult. Sometimes I wonder how much of a difference those brushes really make.

I spent very little time Curling but I know a fair amount about it because my dad belonged to a curling club and he told me a lot about it. First thing a lot of people don't realize about curling is how difficult it is. The rock is very heavy and you have to impose the perfect amount of force into it using your own body's momentum. The purpose of the sweeper is to melt a small layer of ice to reduce friction and it is very effective.

The reason it's called curling is because if the guy who throws the rock imparts a slight spin onto it the stone turns, or curls, slightly to the direction of the spin.

And the playing ice keeps the team's beer cold.
