New Short "Goodbye, Weeds" Now Available!!!

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/KjyPGsYrvFk?hl=en_US&amp;amp;version=3" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/KjyPGsYrvFk?hl=en_US&amp;amp;version=3</a>

Our new short Goodbye, Weeds is a product of a different time, a time when a commercial for weed killer wasn’t just something you waited impatiently to click “Skip” on so you could get to a YouTube video of a puggle farting in its sleep. Far more than that, Goodbye, Weeds is a 17 minute film, complete with animated segments, actual Hollywood actors doing their best imitation of the Thin Man movies, gigantic plantation-style homes and a lush golf course. You can almost feel the hand of Don Draper behind it all (warning: do not actually feel the hand of Don Draper, there’s no way to know where it’s been).

But there’s still one thing plaguing the perfect life of this obviously wealthy “middle-class everyman” - that most treacherous of beasts, the common yard dandelion. But not for long, because the greenskeeper at our man’s country club has some advice - grab a big metal cannister and drench every inch of your property in Weed-No-More! It’s safe for dogs, kids, heck you can stir it into your Yoo-Hoo if you want!

So dig in to a lawn care commercial with a bigger budget than the last three Air Bud movies and join Mike, Bill, and Kevin in saying Goodbye, Weeds!

So a generation is about 25 years, so between the caveman version of this dude and the present-day descendant only about 3,000 years passed?  Somehow I don't think that's quite right.

I think any generation where a pretty woman attaches herself to such a weird guy has problems anyway.

Did anybody else look up Weed No More to see if it's still available? I did, but I couldn't find any mention of it.

Also, 3000 years from the dawn of man to modern times sounds perfectly reasonable. Assuming the creation involved a magic tree and a talking snake, that is. (Flame shield at the ready)

I was able to find this stuff, although I doubt it's the same product, as there's no Shouting Skull, Pink Corpuscle, Badonkadonk, Yellow Matter Custard, or Nurse Betty among the list of weeds it controls.

Also, the warning label seems to imply that even just reading it will result in a slow, painful death.

I found this 1947 ad for it, seems to be the same stuff, made by Sherwin Williams:

2,4 D is still used a lot as far as I can tell.

I live in one of those jurisdictions where almost all garden pesticides have been banned (Ontario, Canada).  I found myself *longing* for a can of Weed-Be-Gone as I watched this!  Oh, to be able to just spray the magic chemical and watch the lawns turn lush and green as I stretch out on a lawnchair!  Now I crawl around on my hands and knees like those lousy animated characters, digging the weeds out of the ground with my bare hands!  It's barbaric.
Flat, drab passion meanders across the screen!

Not a lot of love for this one? I wonder how toxic the stuff is in today's terms.

Nothing kills Badonkadonk but time.  But it surely does the job. Horribly.

This had the best Kevin-song by far. "Weedle deedle deedle dee..." Awesome.

About as funny as the corn cob wallpaper in the couple's bedroom.

Not a lot of love for this one? I wonder how toxic the stuff is in today's terms.

Here's a couple of MSDS sheets for 2,4 D:

http://www.kernred.com/kern-agcomm/products/2,%204-D%20AMINE%204%20HERBICIDE.pdf
http://www.cdms.net/ldat/mp44n013.pdf

Looking at the LD50, it would take 3 to 4 ounces of the stuff (ingested) to kill a 200 pound person.
Not listed as a carcinogen
Irreparable eye damage listed though so don't get it in your eyes.
Also not listed as toxic to fish.

So as herbicides go it's not bad, no wonder it's still being used today.

And, FYI, the best Kevin song ever is in the Alien rifftrax presents, he does a long parody of "you've got a friend" imitating Randy Newman that is a killer...

The Alien Rifftrax Presents? You mean the Rifftrax for the movie 'Alien'? I don't recall a Rifftrax Presents called 'The Alien'. Furthermore, I thought 'Rifftrax Presents' pieces were by definition ones that were starring guest riffers, not the MKB Three.

I must also disagree about the danger of the herbicide. Three or four ounces ingested will kill you? That means half that much will surely make you ill. And my worst worries have always been about the effect, over time, of constant runoff into water, and absorbtion into edible plants. This shit has been used for the past half a century. What's it doing to our DNA?

Tough noogies. In California, we don't even have water for grass lawns. If you want grass to look that unnatural, install Astroturf and be done with it. :-)

It's toxic to humans, but not fish?
