Okay, this is just me as a nine year old kid a long time ago, and I have a different opinion of the film today, but...

Abbott & Costello Go To Mars

"Okay, now they are finally on their way to Mars. What the... Back to Earth? That's the end of the movie?!?  But they were suppose to go to Mars!! The name of the movie is Abbott & Costello Go To Mars!!! But they didn't go to Mars, they went to Venus!! With all those stupid women!! There is all this cool shit on Mars, and instead they go to this boring planet with women!! What the hell?!? I waited here for two hours to see Abbott & Costello go to the planet Mars. And they don't go there! They go to stupid Venus... And New Orleans?!? Who gives a crap about that place?!? That place is already on Earth! You don't take a rocket ship from Earth to Earth! That's stupid! You take a car or a plane if you wanna go to another city! Rocket ships are for going into outer space! Not up and back! No I won't calm down! I WON'T CALM DOWN! Abbott & Costello were suppose to go to Mars!! And they didn't!!! They went to all these stupid places instead!! NO I WON'T GO TO MY ROOM!!! I WANT TO SEE ABBOTT AND COSTELLO GO TO THE PLANET MARS, AND I AM NOT GOING TO LEAVE THIS ROOM UNTILL THEY DO!!  I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT!! MAKE THEM GO BACK TO THE STUDIO AND FILM THE PART WHERE THEY LAND ON MARS!! WHAT? WHO CARES ABOUT THAT! DIG THEM UP THEN AND SEND THEM BACK TO THE STUDIO!! I DON'T CARE IF IT IS JUST THEIR SKELETONS THAT GO TO MARS!! I WANNA SEE F*CKING MARS IN THIS MOVIE, AND I AM NOT LEAVING THIS ROOM UNTILL I DO!!!

I usually don't do this and it bugs me when people do. Fixate on something that upsets you on a personal level and miss the point of the scene or the point of the film as a whole.

Saying that -- there is one time when I was unable to focus on the craft. I wrote about this a year or so ago at another site. So I'll just clip and post what I typed up back then. Note: There are spoilers...

The critically acclaimed Battle of Algiers is a movie I can’t abide. That it has been used as a kind of training video for Terrorists organizations only intensifies my distaste for it. Reading an essay on the film, the author spoke of the scene with the bombings at a café, and that this is the point where viewers consent to the films viewpoint. I didn't. You just murdered a room full of innocent teenagers. I don’t care what your reasons were, at that moment all I thought was, "F-you and your cause." To people that say I should judge the movie on artistic merits alone, your right, but I’m sorry, I can't. In this case, art be damned.

Wedding Crashers - One of the few movies that I've ever turned off. I don't like Owen Wilson anyway, but mostly because the two characters were loathsome. These are the kind of assholes that give guys a bad name and make women bitter about men.

Um. I'm not saying you have to like the movie or anything, but it must have been pretty obvious that the characters change by the end of the film, and that they are meant to be bad people at the start.

Thankfully nobody in my family is a big fan of this one... it's probably the least revisited Pixar DVD in the pack... but dammit this one pisses me off more every time I re watch it. Everything is sentimental Pixar heartstring tugging at the beginning... and you think this might possibly be the most emotionally gripping animated film ever... Then a big annoying bird shows up and murderous dogs with telepathic collars fly airplanes and attempt to fucking strafe a child. With like bullets and shit. Because they were after the annoying bird. or something. fucking 'Up"... god that movie is shit...

-Cannibal Holocaust, The Human Centipede and the Hostel movies because they are very graphic and gory and basically pointless.

-I Spit on Your Grave or any movie with rape or violence against women. It bothers me.

-Requiem For a Dream and Schindler's List because they're depressing but I think they are great films and Schindler's List is actually hopeful in a weird way.

Trainspotting is disturbing too but I think it's a great film.

And while I haven't seen them, I know that Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom and Antichrist would bother me.

I can't say they are "good" movies (I actually found myself liking Hostel more than I thought I would despite the cringe-inducing violence), and I've never seen Cannibal Holocaust, but I will say that They are not pointless: Cannibal Holocaust and Hostel are sort of both about foreigners coming into a place and taking advantage of the locals, in different ways, and suffering the backlash.

Of course, that doesn't forgive CH's turtle murder.

Ok, since "Hostel" was mentioned so I have to bring up "Cabin Fever". Never saw "Hostel", but the reason I avoided it was not due to it‘s torture porn reputation, but because it was made by the same writer/director as "Cabin Fever", which was reviewed as being great and a unique take on a tired sterotype and I was excited to finally get a chance to see after having read about a year of hype and being a big horror movie fan. I can't think of another horror movie that had so many unlikeable characters that sort of made me want to see them all get killed but even more than that made me want the movie to either do sonething unexpected or just end instead of continue to stick to the expected and just go on and on.

I haven't seen Cabin Fever, I will say something I like about Hostel is that there are three characters and the character who becomes are hero is not the character you expect, although it makes sense.  He's the sort of unlikable character who usually dies early on while the character who you expect to make it through the movie due to his niceness and non-douchiness actually dies at the midway point.  That sounds bad but it really allows a character you usually dismiss in these movies a chance to show that there is more too him (it's not terribly deep, but storywise it toys with expectations).

I've seen parts of Cabin Fever and I hated it
