I'm surprised there's not a thread about this show. Almost as surprised as I am that such a great show is on NBC (seriously; watch it).

I do watch and love it.   Good acting and writing.    I hope NBC does not mess it up.   Season 2 announced?

Even my 79 year old mom loves it.

We have been watching it and love it. Lame that they chickened out and didn't air the 4th episode. You can see it now at iTunes and Hulu.

Love the show. Might be the best photographed series on the air. Gorgeous.

Erica and I have both been enjoying the show.  I was a little surprised that Hannibal himself is kind of the least interesting character to us.  It's not any failing of the performance or the writing of the character, its just that Will is far more compelling.

I find its luridness to be occasionally off-putting - a problem it shares with its source material is that it exoticizes serial killers to the point of romanticism.  The madness of real serial killers, while certainly horrifying, tends to be a lot more banal.  I also roll my eyes at the suggestion that Will Graham has some kind of hyperautistic superpowers (as someone on the spectrum, do we really need another one of those characters on a TV show)?

Having said that, it's well-made, well-written, well-acted, and gorgeously shot.  Mads Mikkelsen is able to provide a great amount of restraint to the role of Hannibal, which is the right call since 1) It needs to be plausible that nobody's caught on yet, and 2) You don't need to do much to seem menacing when your face looks like that.  This show is made by people who know what they're doing.  Which is a hell of a lot more than can be said of, say, The Following.  While it's not my favorite show (for the reasons listed above), I have been watching every week.

This show is quickly becoming one of the best series on television. Also, word is that Amazon might be interested in picking up the show if NBC cancels it. This seems even more plausible since Amazon just recently required the rights to exclusively stream the series. I hear its doing quite well overseas, also, so there's that helping as well.

Also, from Bryan Fuller's Twitter:

This is my mom's (she is 79) favorite show.  We talked about the last episode on Friday and she said she thought the thing on the shore was just an teepee....then she looked more closely at it.  Now, I think she wishes I would build one for her.

She likes the show so much, so is starting to read the books again.  Assuming I can find all of them in hard copy and large print.  So far, she is on Silence of the Lambs.

I really like this show and I understand why it is not shown in prime time (it is 9pm central) because it IS a bit amazing to look at.

I know it will be on a season two, even if NBC gets stupid.
