Might not be enough content to riff this one. And for some reason people like this movie? It has a beachball alien! Took me 3 attempts to make it through this movie without falling asleep.

It's a comedy.

Yep, and a pretty good one too, as I recall.  It was quite popular back when I was in college.  It was one of  John Carpenter's first movies (1974) and is a silly take on dead-serious space movies, about a trio of misfits (plus their former commander's frozen head) doing a mind-numbingly boring job - blowing up potentially unstable stars with smart bombs (they can talk!).  I don't want to be a bummer, but I don't think it would be good for riffing - the dumb parts are intentionally dumb.  Sorry.

PS - the movie's country-western theme song, "Benson, Arizona" ("My body flies the galaxy, my heart longs to be there") is on YouTube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbbYn7d_W8s

It wasn't funny. But yeah I guess it's harder to riff a comedy that is trying to make fun of a genre.

EDIT: Hang on, "Nothing but their jeans"? Wow that's far less in/aspirational than I've thought it was for all of my life.
