Classic MST3K: Time Chasers
« on: March 13, 2007, 06:11:40 AM »
Seeing the thread about "Hobgoblins" inspired me to create this topic of discussion. I had forgotten about this episode for awhile, only remembering the opening comment of  it looking like NFL graphics. When I bought Volume 5 (for my other favorite episode, "Merlin's Mystical Shop of Wonders", really) I had a chance to re-watch it...and it has instantly become one of my favorite episodes! So many lines...my friends and I have watched it 3 times now. And my sister's friends always insist on watching it (to her annoyance since she's seen it way too often now). Anyone else love this classic? As for some lines...

"Hi I'm Bob Evil!" (yeah, the mystery of my login revealed)

"The reason I brought you up here today..."
"To crash!"

"I've gwot a whole beel-ding fwull of pee-pole!" ("I've got a whole building full of people"...or how Mike heard it)

"I'm gonna squint the hell out of you!"

"Ah ha, bicycles is it? We accept your vehicle of choice!"

Sadly, I could go on, but I've abused the number of quotes for the moment....
"And when I get angry, things begin to happen!"

I loved the fact that the filmmakers who sent the movie to the MST3k were incredulous that they made fun of it.  I mean, what did expect??

"Ah, remember when everybody got the Nick Miller haircut and went around wearing Castleton t-shirts." - Crow

"But what about my hockey hair!" - Mike

"Did someone tape a dinner roll to his chin?" - Crow

"Well if he's gonna run, he better put vasoline all over his nipples." - Crow

"Hey, look, a lesbian OF THE FUTURE!" - Crow

hahahaha....I forgot the shirt!

"You Castleton snob!"

My friends and I were actually considering getting shirt made that said either just Castleton or "Castleton snob".  Man, I love this episode.

"Should the sky have trees and grass and be coming right at us?"

"Multiple plaids? I'm a naked robot and even I know that's a fashion no-no"

"Thanks friends-of-the-director who wore their own suits to the shoot!"

"So in the future kids are gay agents?"

Yes, a great episode. It took me awhile to really appreciate this one as a "classic". I always liked it, but much like Werewolf, I had to watch it a couple times over a short period to have it all really sink in. You too can travel to the future! Piper Cub, Commodore 64 and ten 5.25" floppy disks are sold seperately. Your parents help you put it together.

"I left my keys at the Manchu Wok of the future!"

I love the delivery of this line.

"See you at community theater practice!"

This is one of my favorite episodes.

I love how he looks into his fridge to find nothing, and Crow says "Loser status confirmed."

"You gotta love the throaty roar of a K Car."

Mike says "If you can see a character's eye boogers, you're too close!"

Mike: "Who am I trying to kid? I never went to Castleton!"

Crow: "Listen, do you want your library card revoked??"

Oh, and one of my favorites:

Servo: "Is his office in a branch library?"

 ;D

The host segments were very good in this episode too - I really enjoyed Past Mike. I didn't like Eddie so much but it was a fairly brief part of the show.

"Mike Nelson, there's a robot from the future here to see you."

Oddly enough, the funniest part for me was when the boss gets into the Limo toward the end, and his "bodyguard" closes the door, gives the pink suit-wearing underling the stare-down, and Mike says "I'm Batman."

I lost it.   :D

Not necessarily a quote, but the beginning when Crow refuses to accept Nick as the movie's hero always kills me.
Flag on the moon.
