Point of reference: The average episode of Game of Thrones costs 6 Million. The average 30-minute sitcom pilot costs between 1.3 and 3 million. Joel is trying to make 3 episodes with that first 2 million.

Here's a Kickstarter that just MIGHT interest some of you...

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mst3k/bringbackmst3k

2 MILLION DOLLARS?! What the hell?
And that's just for 3 Episodes..
$5.5 Million for 12 Episodes :speechless:
And the rewards are not that great in my opinion :-\

Part of the reason they made MST3K the way they did originally was because it wasn't very expensive to make. Yeah, that will be more now due to inflation, and not having the existing studio space. The only thing I can think of is if he wants it to be more elaborate, a la Other Space, with more sets and stuff. If that's what he's doing, that would feel like an evolution of the original show.

I'm all for him trying this. And I will certainly check it out if it gets made. But I have 198 episode of MST3K, Rifftrax, Rifftrax Live, and many different iRiff groups. I am happy with the state of riffing nowadays.

Same here.
I'll wait to see if any new perks are created but I just don't have the funds available for another Kickstarter right now :-\

$200 gets you a Blu-ray of every episode, however many they end up making. (If they get to 5.5 Million, they'll make a whole 12 episodes, which implies that most of the first 2 million is start up costs...)

It's tempting but if it ends up only being 3 episodes that would blow. I'm holding off until later before I kick any towards it.

I do wonder if all the Kickstarters that Rifftrax has done already will take some of the wind from his sails.

And I did see that he said the old MST3K alumni would be "invited" back. I would be surprised if Mike, Kevin and Bill would actually join up in this. Maybe a cameo, tops.

I'm good with voices and that isn't Josh. Don't know who the human or Tom is. Crow sounded kinda like Trace, but seemed a tiny bit off.

Since he hasn't announced casting, they might all be fillers, or Joel might be testing them out for reactions..

More logically, pledge for the full set, and reduce/cancel your pledge if they don't make it.

If everyone did what you propose, they won't make the goal.
FINE

I don't disagree. I would do that if I hadn't been out of work for the past month.
