So, you know Kyle Kallgren, that jerk who used to post here but is now some hoity toity internet celebrity and is too good to slum with us lowlifes?

Yeah, well he's trying to fund his Master's project so he's tossed up a project that's "a short film that's a cross between a screwball comedy and a dark political thriller" involving time travel and debate performance.

I suspect it'll get funded anyway, but here's a chance to support it.

Not sure if this was intended as a general catch-all for Kickstarters that look interesting, but here is one:

A puppet (looks like mostly marionette and rod puppets) gothic ghost story.

This is an old one and completely funded, but check it out!  The world's biggest choose-you-own-adventure from the creator of Dinosaur Comics!  With art by Kate Beaton and MANY MANY MORE!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/breadpig/to-be-or-not-to-be-that-is-the-adventure?ref=live

BTW, anyone know how to properly embed the videos?

Whoa.

A Veronica Mars movie. Yes, with Kristen Bell.

They need 2 million. And within hours of launch, they've gotten 750,000 of that.

Oh, and if they don't get 3 million, Logan Echolls is going to die in the film.

And it's funded. Good to see the guy from Matchbox 20 got his movie funded.

(Fun Rifftrax fact: the show made a reference to "The Room" in season 3 long before anyone else in the country knew about Mr. Wiseau's opus, 2 years before Adult Swim aired it for April Fool's.)

Are Kickstarters for the general public, or just for big idea/entertainment sorts of things? Or like the Save Walter White fund?

I have talked about starting up a small scale food truck in Lancaster city but of course I have zero funds with which to begin. My daughter thinks we should do a Kickstarter campaign and go from there. The thing is, we'd need probably around $25k just to start, and frankly, who would care? It's not like anyone would really benefit from it.

Indiegogo fundraiser to help former pro wrestler get a much needed hip replacement surgery.  A lot of those guys tear up their bodies and end up like Scott with no health insurance.  I have enjoyed watching pro wrestling over the years and Scott was always one of my favorites.  Donated $60 ($30 for the T-Shirt and $30 for the phone call).

DDP (who is fast approaching wrestling sainthood) is doing amazing work in helping Scott (and Jake the Snake Roberts) work through their health and addiction issues.

So anyway,  if you are a fan of the wrasslin', you may want to chip in a bit.   :)

ESPN story on Scott from a year or so ago talking about the fall of the once great wrestler.

Comedian Jim Bruce, who appears on the Paul Goebel Show podcast is a long time stand up who is working on his first stand up DVD "I'm Dying as Fast as I Can."  As humour goes, his is very dark, discussing his emotionally abusive family and generally rough childhood.  He's a pretty cool guy and I think he's worth supporting.

Aaaaand it has $52K with a day or so left, surpassing it's $30K goal! This looks like it could be very cool when done.

He's THIS guy. And I've only met him briefly, but he's a pretty cool dude in real life.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sequential/stripped-the-final-push

There's a week left in this Kickstarter for the documentary "Stripped", about the history of comic strips in newspapers, the internet, and whatever other formats you find them in. Includes a catchy song by Kate Micucci of Garfunkel and Oates, and interviews with a number of cartoonists ranging from Bill Amend to Jim Davis to the Penny Arcade guys to AN AUDIO INTERVIEW WITH BILL MOTHERFUCKING WATTERSON, so it looks like it should be a lot of fun.
