Baldur's Gate Sequel?
« on: March 10, 2007, 12:18:17 PM »
Yeah, sometimes I get lazy and leave my computer on for days, a habit that I picked up from d/l anime, MST3K, and the occasional OST"s... When this happens, my computer seems to slow down a bit.  Taking much longer than it should to preform tasks and such.  While I'm waiting I usually fire up my GC or PS2 and start playing video games to fill the void.  That was the warm-up for my real question.  Recently I'd dusted off my copies of Baldur's Gate for the GC and even more recently Baldur's Gate II for the PS2.  The end credits seem to hint at a sequel but I've been to busy to look.  Has A BG3 come out yet?  It's been like what 4 or 5 years since BGII... So comments? Observations...

I've been dying for a BG3 for the PC.  Now that's a sandbox game I can get into.  They were amazing games.  So free and open, but they had interesting stories and adventures to go one.  Unlike MMORPGs, where it's just killing random things to level up.

It's been long-rumoured, but I think they're working on Fallout 3 first...Which I can't wait for, the first two were awesome.  For anyone not familiar with the series, just think Baldur's Gate in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Given his mention of the GameCube and PS2, I suspect Thom is actually talking about Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance I and II.  They're more like Diablo Lite than the RPG goodness of the original Baldur's titles.  I don't think those ever came out for consoles.

Either way, I haven't heard any news of sequels.  Unless you count Champions of Norrath, which was basically the same thing in the Everquest Universe.  And X-Men Legends, which was also the same thing, with mutants instead of dwarves.

Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale are PRACTIALLY Baulders Gate sequels. Unless you're talking about the console beat-em-up RPGs. :^)

Don't forget Marvel: Ultimate Alliance... and The Bard's Tale and Untold Legends. Infact, there is no derth of Dark Alliance clones.
